HAL Excursion costs and mariner account

We have never purchased HAL excursions, but we have pre-purchased 2 excursions for an upcoming cruise. My question is this.. I do not know if excursions costs count towards mariner credits, but if they do, can I, once on board, ask them to apply the purchase of these and /or other pre-purchased item costs to my mariner account?

Thanks

Money credits spent for excursions will be automatically applied. There is a limit though. You can credits get up to the number of cruise nights. So on a 7 day cruise, you can get up to 14 credits.

We did the Far East discovery itinerary and purchased a couple of very expensive HAL tours one of which was the 2 day Angkor Wat excursion never received Mariner credit for this

There is a limit on how much spending credit you can receive. You receive 1 day credit for every $300 spent. I think the spending credit is capped at the number of days of the cruise. So on a 14 day cruise you can only receive (an additional) 14 days of credit from purchases.

So would the HIA pkg count toward mariner credits?  I am assuming it is a per person Mariner credit.  Example: 7 day cruise- HIA is $350 pp- so does this equal 1 Mariner credit per person?  The other question: do the purchases we make with OBC also count toward Mariner credit?  Money spent in casino?  I ask this because we are a couple of points away from reaching the next star level.

HIA and what you spend with OBC all counts. Not sure about casino. I can’t figure out how they calculate HIA, but I always get the maximum and we get the HIA and do very little extra spending  onboard. Gratuities count too. They seem to always round upwards.

Thank you Bethcb,  we have the HIA for Upcoming B2B, and some OBC to spend.  So at least 2 bonus mariner credits each.

In case you didn't know, all spending for everyone in the cabin counts toward Mariner Credits for the first 2 occupants of the cabin. Additional occupants do not get spending credit.

Wouldn't that be divided between the 2 occupants?  HIA was $700 for the both of us per 7 day cruise.  And yes only 2 occupants are in cabin with no additional.  That's why I only gave ea of us $350 credit.  Thanks

For our last 14 day cruise with HIA we were credited 14 +14 = 28

For our previous 12 day with HIA we were credited 12 +12 = 24

And a prior 12 day (in a suite) with HIA was 12 +12 (suite) + 12 = 36

We each received these 'days'.

No, according to what has been stated, the total spending for the cabin is used to determine credits for the first two occupants. If HIA was $700, then each would have $700 credit toward spending credits. Adding additional spending would give each person at least 3 credits.

Oh wow.  We need 7 more points to reach next star level after we add 14 days total on board the ship.  So we might reach that next level by the end of the 14 days, because we have HIA for both cruises + $200 OBC per person for each cruise.  So we will most likely spend at least $2200 over the 14 days on board.  Thank you for clarification.

I have never had SBP and NOT rec'd the additional points up to the number of days of the cruise. Since the beverage package in the HIA is the SBP, I was hoping that would also prove the same. Several people including @VMax1700have said it seems to be true.

When it was just the SBP I calculated that they were giving credit not just for the drinks we had at full price, but for the limit of 15 @$11! I can't swear to this but it is HARD to spend $300/day even with two people in relaxed vacation mode!

So if this continues to be the practice, you will surely reach your star! I'm counting on getting the triple points for days/spending/suite on our B2B!

Thanks but we didn’t get any spending credit, not for one drink, nor any tours, nor spa or anything

I would call the Mariner Society number (800.547.9139) to discuss this. Have your cruise details with booking number. Additional info to help would be your end-of-cruise onboard spending statement and email confirmations of the original booking and pre-cruise purchases.

However, you should need nothing beyond your booking details as everything should be in their computer.

I hope the HIA fee does count toward Mariner points, as the SBP did. We are doing several B2B’s in a Vista Suite the next couple of months to finally get to 4*. And to hang with the fine folk on those sailings, of course. Always a good time to make new friends. 🤓

Sailing solo in October with HIA package and spending pretty much nothing other than gratuities I received 10 points for the cruise.
