Moreover offer to give up mini suite for balcony stateroom

They are making this movedown offer because they need your type cabin to fill a GTY.

Only you can decide if getting 50% back is worth the move.

(Question - if you get the balcony for half what you paid for the mini-suite, do you know what the balcony would have cost if you had booked that in the first place?)

Since a balcony costs considerably less than a mini-suite, 50% back for a lesser type cabin may not be a great deal.

If you (and others) do not accept this offer, Princess may offer a better deal. (75% back? 100% back?)

Princess has extended this offer to a number of us Minisuite pax, scheduled on the Sky this Saturday. 50% back as refundable OBC if we downgrade to a Deluxe Balcony, category DB.  We'll decline for now, as SWMBO loves her Mini with the blackout curtain, 2 TVs and bigger bathroom, though if Princess ups the offer, we'll reconsider

It's also important to note where your new location might be - if that's important to you.  Under the Melanoma Deck or above a bar/nightclub may be annoying to some folks.  There's probably a good reason an available balcony is available if one studies the deck plans.

Is this a good deal? I’d be given 50% back on cruise.

You  don't have to accept their first offer.

Princess called Mrs. Roberto with an offer.  I was unreachable, and she told them I was unreachable.

They assume she was negotiating, and upped the offer.

Then upped it some more.

And more.    We finally accepted a move over on Friday afternoon around 1600, for a Saturday departure.

I had the distinct impression that they were anxious.

On the other hand, some one else might accept a low-ball offer and squeeze you out.

It's like when the gate agent comes on an overbooked flight, and tries to get someone to give up their seat.

Sometimes there will be a college kid who will take a later flight for a bag of peanuts.

1700 on a Friday in Newark ... airline can offer price of full fare coach ticket, and no one will bite...'
