I haven't. Yes, they don't inform passengers on why so I wouldn't know. 14 hours ago, staceyglow said: But Carnival isn't stupid. They make huge money on drinks. If people are buying, they are going to be serving. If they already got your money on cheers they have less incentive. Removing casino bars and closing bars early isn't serving, especially crowded bars with lots of folks who would still like to enjoy them, especially on older ships like Miracle. Without a casino bar, it's more Princess like than Carnival like but that seems to be the objective these days, close things down early, limit food options past dinner and get folks in bed early. TacAlert Posted November 27, 2022 #27 Share Posted November 27, 2022 To answer the original question, Big Chicken was not added to the ship. And the less smoking, the better.
Beave8920 Posted November 27, 2022 #28 Share Posted November 27, 2022 Just off the Miracle. We were the first out of drydock. Not many real obvious changes. The most obvious was the new Carnival paint scheme on the bow - All blue!. Lots of new varnish. All the dining room chairs were new. Some new Carpet in staterooms. No new food venues, including no Shaq's. The casino bar was gone and the casino added additional slot machines and table games. The Cruise Director Georgia said they took the ship completely out of the water and she got to touch the bottom of the ship! She said they did some work on the undercarriage, prop and stabilizers. In my opinion they could have done a bunch of more updating, but I'm guessin the budget is a bit tight these days.....but we had a great cruise and that's all that matters!
Itried4498 Posted November 27, 2022 #29 Share Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) We were on the Miracle’s Thanksgiving cruise, disembarking a few hours ago. IMO, the Big Chicken rumor was just wishful thinking. There’s simply no room to add such restaurant without extensive modifications - and if they did such modifications, I’d expect a speciality (upcharge) option as the Miracle is lacking in this area. They did turn one of the buffet stations into a permanent Chinese option. Not sure if this is being done fleet wide or an attempt to cater to the LA market. Here’s some pics of the Miracle’s new livery taken on the tenders to/from Cabo: Edited November 27, 2022 by Itried4498
dallasdan Posted November 28, 2022 Author #30 Share Posted November 28, 2022 Someone also mentioned they were putting a big screen in for dive in movies. Can anyone confirm?

Rumor has it they were not happy with the screen install on Pride, so none of the other Spirits are getting it.
heckledtrio Posted November 28, 2022 #32 Share Posted November 28, 2022 Does anyone know if they updated the outlet situation (i.e. increased the # of power/USB outlets) in the cabins?

They did not. Besides the removal of the casino bar, all changes were purely cosmetic. I was surprised they didn’t upgrade the technology - the WiFi’s slow, the app doesn’t show estimated wait times for MDR “your time,” no on demand programming etc. Or maybe the WiFi’s slow due to the number of morons who think that every single conversation they have MUST involve FaceTime. No big screen. While it’d be nice, the ship’s design makes it difficult to watch the typical big screen. And that’s not considering that if the ship remains based out of California, it gets much more colder on the deck above than other ships, again due to the design. Especially in the cooler months like now. They use to show movies in the theater, but not on my recent trips. (Miracle only.)

Probably not in the budget at this time. The screen is in a nice protected, covered area on the other ships. The problem is that is has limited value - only a limited number of people can enjoy the movie, given the design of the Lido Deck and the deck above it. Given the itineraries the Miracle operates, it's simply too cold on the 10th deck after the sun goes down. I have been on several cruises where the 10th deck is blocked off due to high winds in the Pacific. It would seem like for a ship that's scheduled into Hawaii regularly, movies under the stars would be a must, but again, I think the limited value hinders it. I agree it likely wasn't added due to cost, but it's a small cost and I think if it was justified it would've been added. It's very rocky in the waters surrounding CA / Mexico into Hawaii - I have videos where Miracle looks like it has a wave pool.
CarnivalShips480 Posted November 30, 2022 #42 Share Posted November 30, 2022 Carnival Spirit, Pride, Legend, Miracle, Splendor, Luminosa Carnival Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty, Freedom The first group has pool covers on the mid pool, in front of the funnel The second group has pool covers on the aft pool. Destiny, Triumph, and Victory had aft pool covers before the Sunshine refurbishments.
marie94949 Posted December 5, 2022 #43 Share Posted December 5, 2022 Did they put new mattresses in the staterooms? For me a firm supportive unworn mattress is my highest priority.

We had brand new carpeting in all three rooms, but the rest of the floor had the older carpeting.
