Do you tip at Steak House?

Wondering if it customary to tip when you dine at the steak house and how much.  I am asking because I am wondering if the gratuities you paid automatically go there too.  Also does part or maybe all of the $48 you pay for the steak house goes towards or covers tips.  I just want to know what the proper procedure is.  I realize some people tip according to the level of service, but I know that at land restaurants the customary tip is now around 20%.

The steakhouse includes gratuity. Any additional tip above and beyond is optional and not expected.

We always tip at specialty restaurants.  Our choice.

There is a gratuity included in the $48 charge per person, so for normal service, we usually don't add any more.  But for exceptional service we'll add extra.

I always tip extra at the steakhouse.  $5.00-$10.00 per person depending on level of service.

My Steakhouse dinner is almost always a casino comp so I tip in cash.

 

How much depends on the service.

I usually leave $10 in cash with the receipt. (also comped by casino)

Many restaurants in the U.S. add a gratuity for large parties. On Carnival the tip is included at the steakhouse regardless of whether there is one guest or more.

I hate to say this, but our last cruise in June. The Steakhouse service was not good. Not even close to service we got in MDR. We did not tip Steakhouse extra. We did however tip extra to our MDR service members.

For years we always tipped, but at the time no one in our group knew that gratuity was included so some very nice tips were given!  Now that we know it’s included we only give additional if the service and food is really good. On the Magic last week, I believe we had the best service ever provided in any of the steakhouses. Our waiter was a very young looking young man, so happy and full of energy! I believe his name was Aleh. We all tipped extra!

Since standard gratuities are already included/added for specialty dining, I only add extra if the service was above standard service.

I did the same on my last cruise. I left a $20? In hindsight probably should have left more since not gratuity was prepaid?

We always tip extra. I was told by a beard years ago the employee cut was 15% which is substandard at best. We are not comped and I leave an extra $20 in cash (for two).

I once had dinner at the steakhouse with an entertainment staff member. She had to get permission from the cruise director to do so. The one condition the CD had was that we tip beyond the included amount. That told me all I needed to know about the included tip. I tipped well.
