Tntt Posted November 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2022 So I booked another cruise for next year leaving out of Port canaveral. We normally drive to Florida and it is about a 11 hour drive from our city. We are considering flying this time because the drive is just too tiring. This would be our first time flying to Orlando so if we fly into Orlando what are the options for transportation from Orlando to the port? If we did uber or lyft what should we expect for cost for a family of four? Any suggestions for flying to the port?

Some people rent a car and drop off in canaveral as well.

We fly in a day early and have used a car service to get from the airport to a hotel near the cruise port. It’s approximately an hours drive, depending on traffic. The one time we did a family cruise, prior to COVID, our daughter her husband and two youngest, and our son, his wife and their son, I got hotel rooms for all of us near the airport and had a car service take us all to the cruise port the next day. Ashland Posted November 23, 2022 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2022 We've used a shuttle service from MCO. Our choice was Cruise Control for round trip and it worked out great !!
basenji56 Posted November 23, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2022 Renting a car is easy. Budget has a location near the port with shuttle to the ship. I usually do that if I fly in a day early. I think Avis also has a location with a shuttle.
jalves Posted November 23, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2022 Just to add to the above post - All the major car rental companies have locations near the port and a free shuttle.

katiel53 Posted November 23, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2022 We usually fly down a day or two before the cruise and stay at a hotel near the airport. We have used both Cortrans and Cruise Control shuttle services. Both are excellent.
billslowsky Posted November 23, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2022 We did the car rental from Avis a few weeks ago. It's not cheaper than getting an Uber ride, but you do have the car to go out with. Going back to MCO, the wait was going to be 45 minutes for the Avis shuttle (it filled up frequently with parties of multiple people) so we paid an Uber about $20 for the 5 minute ride and also didn't get caught in a line of people picking up cars.
