seattleslew Posted December 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2022 Just discovered that we don't have the transfer pkg purchased from SAN to the cruise terminal for tomorrow's sailing. Can you walk up to the Holland reps who are at the baggage area and pay for the transfer right then? And we have a big complication: we need a wheelchair accessible bus or a ramp taxi. BTW, Vancouver is wonderful about providing ramp taxis. It's a seamless process and Vancouver should be proud of the way wheelchairs are handled there. Rare Mary229 Posted December 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) I never bought but have been offered one. Just ask. Edited December 2, 2022 by Mary229
cwd79 Posted December 2, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2022 We did this in FLL airport a few weeks ago. We got our bags and walked up to the HAL reps and got added to the list and was able to get on the bus to the cruise terminal. A few days after the charge showed up on our onboard account. No problems at all in doing that.

Call the HAL Reservations number and have your Booking # and credit card ready. Last time we tried to get a transfer there was a wait list. You will especially need to ask about the availability of accessible transport. Have a lovely cruise.
julia Posted December 2, 2022 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2022 You might consider going to Information at SAN and inquiring about accessible transportation. SAN is close to the pier, and this may be an easier, less expensive option.
seattleslew Posted December 2, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted December 2, 2022 Thank you all for your input. Four calls to HAL reps have resulted in four "no, not possible; too close to sailing" so I'm hopeful we can pull this off with the on-site reps. Good idea about SAN Information Desk. Either it's me, or their website is acting up and I can't get anywhere with it right now. I wonder if SD offers accessible cabs that can service the airport... Rare Hlitner Posted December 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2022 If you are simply embarking at the local port, just grab a taxi. It will be less expensive than a HAL transfer and much faster. Hank
liketraveling Posted December 3, 2022 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2022 There are cabs waiting. Really easy they will get you to the pier.
MereBooty Posted December 3, 2022 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2022 I do not know about cabs but there is a public bus route from the airport to the cruise terminal and SD buses are wheelchair accessible. Runs about every 15 minutes.
seattleslew Posted December 3, 2022 Author #10 Share Posted December 3, 2022 Appreciate the input. After numerous calls we found an accessible van service. Wow, talk about an underserved community! It's HARD to be handicapped! If they show up on time, I'll be thankful and amazed ... then off to our B2B2B2B2B on Kdam. (I would have considered the bus but can't schlep all the luggage by myself). First world problems.
CherryG Posted December 3, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 3, 2022 First time we took the transfer from the airport, it was because our day before flight was cancelled and we flew in a few hours before the ship left. I went to the HA people in the luggage area and asked how long do I have to get to the ship. She said we can take you. It was a relief. The charge was put on our cabin charges. A few weeks ago, I prearrange to take to the ship. Very easy. Get your luggage and go to the HA people (very visible who they are). They'll walk you out to wait for the bus that takes you directly to the ship.
DaveOKC Posted December 3, 2022 #12 Share Posted December 3, 2022 Taxi at SAN was very quick and easy. Should not be more than $15 to the pier (or nearby hotels).
