deec Posted December 12, 2022 #26 Share Posted December 12, 2022 Yes, CCWINELOVER....those cocktails are fun to try and the bartenders onboard our cruises have been so much fun and happy to share their knowledge!

We are not heavy drinkers and found the provided beer and wine at lunch and dinner acceptable. We also bought a bottle of gin for pre-dinner drinks in our cabin. The price of the bottle and purchased drinks on board was less than $150. The Silver Spirits package for two, $600. We had a great cruise and had more alcohol to drink than we planned to. We did same on Orion this past August in Alaska and we found the bartenders very generous about what they called lunch and dinner hours. For instance if lounging in the pool area we could grab our beer and wine for several hours so long as the grill was open for “lunch”
oceandream Posted December 25, 2022 #28 Share Posted December 25, 2022 regarding drinks during lunch and dinner, can you order a drink at a bar during meal times or you need to be at dining room locations? Thanks
Rare 1985rz1 Posted December 25, 2022 #29 Share Posted December 25, 2022 The package covers bar orders any time the bar is open, as well as in dining venues during mealtimes.

anaco_angler Posted December 26, 2022 #32 Share Posted December 26, 2022 Just a reminder to those new to this topic that the SSBP must be purchased by both passengers in the cabin. In our case where one of us cannot drink alcohol for medical reasons, it doesn't make sense. It would be in effect $40 pp per day. No problem as there are many other ways to enjoy an alcoholic drink.

homeatlast Posted December 30, 2022 #34 Share Posted December 30, 2022 Does Viking have breakfast smoothies and are they included in the fare or is a drinks package required? Also, how about non-alcohol drinks at the bar?
formernuke Posted December 30, 2022 #35 Share Posted December 30, 2022 Smoothies are included at breakfast. During my last cruise on Jupiter, there was a waiter walking around with a tray pushing the "smoothie of the day"

M.Travels Posted January 2, 2023 #37 Share Posted January 2, 2023 The Viking bars have a menu of non-alcoholic cocktails, and they will make other drinks “Virgin” for you as well. The price is slightly lower than the loaded cocktails, maybe around 5 a drink or so …
duquephart Posted January 2, 2023 #38 Share Posted January 2, 2023 So ----- what would a "Virgin" Old Fashioned be? A lump of sugar?

THR Posted January 4, 2023 #40 Share Posted January 4, 2023 We’ve bought the package for our first Viking cruise (and first cruise) primarily for convenience. It probably won’t work out more economical - but I’ve heard that people remember the drinks you like, you don’t have to worry about signing to your room etc. Given the cost of a 15 night cruise, a few hundred extra per person makes sense for the convenience for us.
duquephart Posted January 4, 2023 #41 Share Posted January 4, 2023 You sign nothing either way and your method of payment has no impact on the memories of the staff.
OKCowboy Posted January 4, 2023 #42 Share Posted January 4, 2023 Had the SSP during recent Panama Canal cruise and developed throat infection halfway through the cruise. Ship doctor put me on an antibiotic and thus my consumption of the SSP came to a halt. My wife couldn't consume my share for some reason!
