hallasm Posted December 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2022 Definitely spring flowers in southern Norway but there is still snow in Honningsvåg. Hope your cruise is calling Honningsvåg after May 14 so you experience the midnight sun. 1
kaisatsu Posted December 21, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2022 May is a lovely time for hiking at lower latitudes. Be prepared for wet/muddy conditions, depending on recent weather and snow melt.

kitkat343 Posted January 3, 2023 #11 Share Posted January 3, 2023 We sailed to Norway in May. They told us the run off from the melting snow made the waterfalls look more impressive in may. I'm really glad they put Geiranger as late as possible so you have a better chance of making it to Dalsnibba (the road there is seasonal and can't be opened until after the big spring avalanche). Our cruise had it early in the itinerary, so we missed it by 2 days (when we were still in the heritage fjords so it was just poor planning.) It was also a bit harder finding independent tours because not everything is running in May but we made it work everywhere and it was quite lovely. they needed a bit more lead time to prepare for tours, so contact the tour guides early. It looks like a wonderful trip!
