Mobility-impaired question about Celebrity

We will be cruising soon with elderly parents - one needs a wheelchair or electric scooter.  The cruise is out of FLL on Equinox.  Does the ship provide?  for a fee?  Or are there options that people have used in FLL to get a scooter delivered to the ship?  I know lots of people do this every cruise so what are the recommendations?  Thank You!

Scooter delivery is pretty good.  There is one provider used by Celebrity.  The scooter will be in your stateroom.

to get from check-in to the stateroom they will provide a wheelchair.  But you dont keep it for the whole cruise.  If you need one on a daily basis, bring your own.

did you book an accessible room for them?

Yes.  Is there a number or department to call Celebrity and arrange for scooter?

Special needs department

On the bottom of the homepage there is a place to click for accessible Cruising and from there you can get the form you will need to order a scooter rental

thanks so much!

You will need to arrange for a rental from an outside company.   The two companies most often mentioned are scootaround.com and specialneedsatsea.com.   The equipment will be in your stateroom when you board and you leave it there when your cruise is over.

You will want an accessible stateroom if a scooter is rented.  You will need to advise Celebrity and they will have you complete a Special Needs form.  Celebrity's Access Department is (954) 628-9708 (voice) or send an e-mail to special_needs@celebrity.com.

PS:   If you happen to use scootaround.com, try this code for a discount (if you can't get it to work on their website, give them a call):   USCRUISE (from the United Spinal Association).   Also regarding scootaround, if you book on-line, their system will add insurance to your price so you must uncheck the insurance choice if you do not want it.

This is the correct email: special_needs@rccl.com. The email special_needs@celebrity.com doesn't seem to be working. At least that was my experience a few months ago.

Ahhh.    special@needs@rccl.com was the email Celebrity was using for our upcoming cruise in February.  On Celebrity's website it lists special_needs@celebrity.com.   🙄

I had a scooter reserved for our cruise last september.  We were not able to get an accessibility cabin, however, I had the foldup scooter and it fit nicely in our closet.  No problem

Standard stateroom doors are 32 inches wide.    A fold up scooter would fit.

Slightly unrelated - one thing to watch for - and this may have changed - is the Retreat sundeck is not accessible except by stairs.  This may not be an issue if you would not be using this.  It is on deck 16 and is the only public space on deck 16.

We were on the Equinox last month.   Stairs only to the Retreat sundeck.

The Retreat sundeck is only available to guests in suites.
