besjes Posted January 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Hi, We are considering MSC out of either Martinique or Guadeloupe. We will be flying in from Dallas. Which airport appears to have more flights to and from Dallas to either of these ports. We are also open to flying into Miami / San Juan, etc to grab a connection. Each leg of the trip can be on a different or same airline. Any tips, ideas, direction, etc are welcomed. Thank You.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted January 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2023 You are going about this the wrong way, IMO. For destinations like this, and other "exotic" destinations, you need to start at the small destination and be working your way backwards to the USA. First find out what airlines service Fort de France and Pointe a Pitre, and the cities that have service. Work your way back to the USA. This method works well for most out of the way spots around the world. For your most convenient travel, you'd end up going through MIA in almost any scenario. AA has service from MIA to both FDF and PTP. Finally, ITA Matrix is your friend.
zdcatc12 Posted January 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Not sure about FDF, but AF has flights from MIA-PTP, but not daily.
Zach1213 Posted January 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Both places are still a bit obscure for Americans as far as the Caribbean goes, so connections to the US are minimal, and nonstops from DFW will never happen (I am comfortable saying that, even if the year is 2459!). Fort-De-France has more flights to Europe (by a longshot) than the US. Miami is the only option, on American, so you can very easily do DFW-MIA-FDF since there are very frequent DFW-MIA flights since they're both AA hubs. Same can be said for Ponte-a-Pitre - more flights to Europe than the US, but you can do DFW-MIA-PTP. The only other flight to the US is a fairly obscure airline to San Juan, so while it's possible to do DFW-SJU-PTP, I wouldn't recommend it. This can also be done on AF-DL, as AF has flights from PTP-MIA.

Would involve an extra stop, likely in ATL. DL doesn't have a DFW/DAL-MIA flight, so they would have to go DFW/DAL-ATL (or another Delta hub)-MIA-PTP. Possible, yes, but maybe not ideal.
