rjack22 Posted January 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2023 We will be sailing on the Sky Princess out of Ft. Lauderdale. When you embark the ship in Ft. Lauderdale what deck do you find yourself on?
bagney Posted January 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2023 If my memory is correct, when we boarded the Sky Princess a week ago Saturday, we boarded on Deck 5. We disembarked from Deck 6.

Happy2cruise Posted January 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Usually deck 5.

rjack22 Posted January 17, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted January 17, 2023 From the picture it looks like deck 7 to me. So... two votes deck 7 and two votes deck 5. Anyone else?
John99 Posted January 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Could the “tides” play a role? A high tide could mean a certain deck while a low tide dictates a completely different deck. I’m not an expert. May be someone else can chime in if this could be possibility.
antsp Posted January 17, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2023 How can this be of any importance, I've never even noticed what deck we boarded on. 1
jeromep Posted January 17, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2023 Tides and available gangways will impact what level you embark on. There are watertight doors on multiple levels of the ship, all the way down to the waterline for tender service. If the port has high enough and flexible enough gangways to embark you on a deck level where they don't have to open a watertight door, they will, however, if tides and gangways won't safely reach an open deck access, you'll enter the ship at one of the lower sets of watertight doors. Like @antsp, I'm curious as to why you wish to know this.
rjack22 Posted January 17, 2023 Author #10 Share Posted January 17, 2023 I'm trying to figure out if we can take the stairs or have to wait on elevators. We are on deck 10 so three flights if we embark on deck 7. Now you know.

hobbyfarmer2 Posted January 17, 2023 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2023 (edited) Hate to be odd person out but it seems to me that the embarkation deck at Ft Lauderdale on a Royal class is deck 6. If you take the forward or aft elevators you will find them much less crowded than mid ships
rjack22 Posted January 17, 2023 Author #14 Share Posted January 17, 2023 I thought of that. But our cabin is near the midship elevators.

You could go down one flight of stairs and get the up elevator before it gets filled up.

Usually the elevators are not an issue on embarkation day getting to your cabin as they block a bunch of elevators to go up only . That’s What I’m remembering. Never waited more than five minutes for an elevator on embarkation day. When the theater is letting out ,or bunch of people come back from shore excursions ,and disembarking ,yes definitely waited for an elevator. Happy cruising. AVCruzers Posted January 18, 2023 #18 Share Posted January 18, 2023 On the Discovery, I think embarkation was on both decks 6 and 7 since there two gangways.
