4th of July on a ship

Why would they celebrate the 4th of July on an international ship with international passengers in international water?

They don't have fireworks on July 1st for Canadians. They don't do anything on June 12th for the Philippines. Nothing on July 14th. Nothing on Aug 15th. All equally important dates for the citizens of these countries.

We have done several cruises over the 4th of July, and they certainly do acknowledge the day. They will drape a  huge American flag in the atrium, and may have a special menu. They will not have fireworks. 😎

Not Carnival but wee were on RCL's Navigator out of Los Angeles last year.  They offered a special menu with stereotypical food - ribs, watermelon and apple pie.  They did a special show in the atrium where they line danced to Achy Breaky Heart and some other country song, then dropped hundreds of balloons that were popped.  Kinda disappointing, but expected.  I'm sure Carnival's similar.

We've sailed a number off times over July 4 - most of our cruises have been July and August. There has been some observance of the holiday on all of our sailings, whether it be trivia games, deck parties, menus, etc. No, you will not get fireworks - Carnival doesn't do that. (Disney does.) But if you happen to be in sight of land you could get fireworks from shore. One of our cruises left Baltimore on July 4 and we saw fireworks the entire way down the Chesapeake.

One of my favorite July 4 sailings had us ported in Saint John, New Brunswick on July 4. Saint John is noted as the settling place for many folks who left the US during the Revolution because they were loyal to Great Britain - the "Loyalists." We had a tour guide dressed as a Loyalist who had a lot of fun with our tour because he was a Loyalist and the tour was almost completely US citizens.😃

I don’t think it has to do with the international crowd. Carnival do cater to mainly American passengers. The celebrate Christmas even though most Chinese don’t and there are Chinese passengers. There are other countries that doesn’t celebrate Christmas.
I think some of the reasons for not doing fireworks are 1. Expenses, 2. Fire danger and 3. Preventing false alerts. Imagine a ship in a distance seeing lights going up and turn back thinking it’s another ship signifies help. Maybe that last point is not too legit but you get the point.
