Cannes vs Nice

We will be in Cannes on April 24, but we won't be there for long.  

 

We are trying to decide on just doing Cannes on our own or taking a scenic bus excursion into the Nice area (with selective stops).

This is one of those personal preference issues, but we prefer Nice for many reasons.  If you do go to Nice, make sure your excursion or tour includes a morning visit to their wonderful Flower Market.

Last year we had a stop in Cannes and went to Nice, the flower market, and then the little train around Nice.

You will run out of things to do in Cannes fairly quickly. Go to Nice first. Save Cannes for when you get back from Nice.

Unless you want to go to the beach.  The beach is nicer in Cannes than in Nice.  The beach in Nice is very rocky.

The OP is going in April. The water will be very cold!

Did you enjoy the train ride around Nice?  We have already seen Monaco and wanted a short excursion and this might be perfect for our needs.  How was the view from the bus on the way to Nice?  Could you see the ocean or on an inland road?  Thanks for any information.

We saw the ocean, assuming you sit on the correct side of the bus. The little train ride was nice.  Prevented a lot of walking.
