Thank you for taking questions.

We will be on Joy in March and I’m curious about the availability of sun bathing space. There is no longer the public space outside Vibe and apparently Spice H2O is smaller on this ship than others.

We prefer to lounge in Spice H2O as it is quieter than the main pool.

Did Spice look crowded? Was the main pool area packed?

Thank you again.

We went to spice h20 after breakfast a couple of days and were able to get good chairs. If you went before breakfast and put towels on your chairs you would definitely be able to get a good seat but we had no problem finding them even after breakfast

Going on the Joy for the Feb 12 sailing. Just wondering if you get the unlimited Go Kart (and Galaxy Pavillion) pass on the ship, will I be able to share one pass with other people I am going on the cruise with? Or are they strict with one person per pass

Curious how drink service is in general--both by servers & at bars.

On the Encore last month servers were virtually non-existent & getting drinks at bars often required a wait of 10-15 min (more during peak times)

The ship felt understaffed, so I don't blame the crew.

I am hearing similar reports from the Prima.

Hoping it is a staffing shortage issue & not a deliberate cost cutting attempt.

We have had no problems getting drinks at the bars we have gotten to know almost all of the bartenders they are very nice and hard workers.  The whiskey bar is probably the least crowded if you have problems getting a drink go there and you will have a drink a

in minutes. Our favorite bar Is the cavern bar out on deck eight we also love the Mojito bar and they will make you any drink you want it doesn’t have to be a  Mojito they also have good music at night.  We were on the prima the first two weeks of November and had no problems getting drinks on the prima either.  Get to know the bartenders they will know what you like and have your drink made for you in no time.

Got to know bartenders well on the Getaway.

There was little opportunity on the Encore last month...lines several people deep most of the time.

DH did chat up the casino bartender (yes, usually just one) early some mornings.

The picture is different now

That thread is discussion of crew/staff fleet-wide and what ships they're on.  The person I was replying to was asking where a particular person was in the fleet.  That picture may not have even been from the Joy, I was just suggesting to that person that maybe that thread would be a better place to ask about a specific crew/staff member.

San Pedro isn't the problem, it's NCL, apparently. For my Princess and Celebrity cruises out of there, I'm usually am on the ship within 15 minutes, but then Princess uses a Medallion and Celebrity an app with all info pre-loaded. But then on my Celebrity Solstice sailing on Jan 7, there were 900 people on board, and they were going to have 700 the following week, so there are some good deals and experiences on them this winter. I'll be on the Joy Feb 19, so maybe a 5-day between school breaks would have fewer people and a better boarding experience. In any case, I went on its inaugural sailing after refurbishment in 2019, and it's still one of my favorite ships, because of the design, entertainment (more dancing in "Footloose" than other shows), and open pool deck layout. I even remember being surprised by peanut brittle in the buffet, which I've never seen on a ship before.

I'll be joining you. Looks like the Joy is the only ship in port that day so maybe boarding will be at the close berth?

I am interested in what is happening to the entertainment also and it would  be nice to get a hint from the crew if they know if there are Joyless cuts coming, such as Footloose.

The cruise Director on the ship said there will be changes coming in the future. He didn’t say anything specific except that they were going to cut out the middleman but will still have great entertainment on the ships. I love the Broadway plays so it worries me that this might be what they are going to be cutting out.

can you post the dailies?  I know the itinerary will change before we board (in 40), but it would be good to see what the CD does.

How is the food in the MDRs?  Are the lines controlled, or is it a cluster?

Any chance you go to the art auction?  How is the auctioneer?

enjoy your sail!!

I will not be posting the dailies but I will be happy to look up specific information you might want to know

When it comes down to production shows NCL cut out The Jean Ann Ryan company many years ago. When I worked for NCL many years ago as a CD they switched a lot of ships from Jean Ann Ryan to NCL productions. I used to know a lot of the Guest Entertainers when onboard and some where the best I ever seen and worked with

92 and 93 are the good ones...

We are on the Feb 12th sailing..which is at one of the good ones ( B92 ) and in fact looks like the only ship in port that day.  The Feb 19th sailing is also out of berth B92.

However, looks like the Feb. 24th sailing is in berth B50...which is in the outer harbor...and is the same berth that folks have reported issues with int the past ( people are bussed over there ).

We Are on the NCL joy if you have specific questions you would like to ask I would be happy to answer them.

I see you are in a concierge Family Suite. We have one booked on the Joy for May. What do you think of the suite? How is the virtual balcony? Have you seen the concierge much or is it a quick meeting on the first day and they say “if you need anything just let me know” and you don’t see them again?  Are there any additional plugs (electrical) in the suite than a regular balcony stateroom? Did your “master bedroom” have the bathtub or just the larger shower in the bathroom? Sorry for so many questions, just want to know what to expect. Thanks so much.

That will be my sailing on the 24th, but it's now saying berth 46 for us. I'll report back in 21 days...

We loved the Jean Ryan shows.  That is what brought us to NCL.  If they change to that caliber of shows I won’t be too upset about broadway shows leaving.

We actually love the suite. The virtual balcony is much better than we thought it would be. We have not seen the concierge at all. He left a letter in our room saying if we need anything to call. I called twice to change that our dinner times other than that we have had no communication. There are phone or iPad plug-ins on the lamps in the master bedroom as well as a plug on the desk in both rooms.  The bath tub is in the master bedroom and I have really enjoyed taking a hot bath at the end of the day.  I think you will really enjoy the suite.  I hope you get Alan as your cabin attendant.  He did a great job.
