Can Butlers Make Specialty Restaurant Reservations?

We keep ready that the Specialty Restaurant reservations fill up.  Can we rely on our Butler in a Sky Suite to make our reservations or do we need to head straight to make reservations once we board?

Yes. The butler and/or the Retreat concierge can do just about anything that guest services can do. 
 

Or just pre-book online…

Yes the Butler can do it but on a recent cruise when I asked the Butler to make a reservation for me he said "It's easy, you can do it". Others have been more accommodating.

"Do it yourself" is not among the most endearing responses I might expect.

Recently on the Edge, Eden showed no availability.  Our butler was able to get a reservation at the time we requested!

That type of response might make me think instead of tipping him extra I would just tip myself. Hope he did better on other things.

We were in a RS last March and asked our butler to make us reservations in Murano and Tuscan.  He came back and told us only time available was 9 pm for both places.  He was not a good butler and I’m sure he did advocate for us.

He was not all bad......but not all good.

All of our butlers would make a reservation if requested but I found the Retreat Host is better positioned to do it.   They have access to the reservation system for all the specialties and can book for you while you wait.

In a Sky Suite, I would book ahead of time.  But if the times you want aren't available or you want to make changes once on board, I have found that the Retreat Concierges are more helpful than the butlers for reservations.  They seem to have direct access to the system.

They must eat down below, along with the rest of the crew.
