Toze Posted February 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2023 We are booked on a 58 day Tokyo to Barcelona next year on Riviera. We have 2 days in Egypt and 5 days in Israel. I assume there will be an opportunity for overland tours but nothing is showing for our cruise yet. Does anyone have experience in the timing of when these tours might show up on our booking? Although the cruise is more than a year away, the 365 day mark for booking tours is this April and I understand that overlands can go quickly and would like to be prepared. Also, thanks to everyone on this forum for all of your valuable information.

When I booked my November 2023 Istanbul to Dubai 20-day cruise, the overland tours offered at Luxor & Jerusalem were not visible to me on the website or in my account online. My TA was able to send me a link to the Oceania descriptions of available land tours. Ask your TA for similar help.
Rare pinotlover Posted February 1, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2023 We booked our overland when we booked the cruise. If you look under manage my account and the land options section they show up. The only description of the land tours are on the plan your cruise page for that cruise. Toze Posted February 2, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted February 2, 2023 Thanks for your replies. There is nothing listed under manage my account/land options. I will definitely contact my TA and see if she can help. Thanks again.
Toze Posted February 13, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted February 13, 2023 According to my TA who contacted Oceania, there are no overland tours for this cruise. I am a little surprised and disappointed, but am sure it will be a great cruise nevertheless.

You can research and contact them to arrange an overland tour for you. There are some recommendations on CC Ports of Call boards.

I am surprised as well since they are offering on a cruise in May https://www.oceaniacruises.com/middle-east-cruises/dubai-to-barcelona-NAU230530/hotels/overland/3/?sr=%2fcruise-finder%23time_frame%3d2023-10|2023-5|2023-6|2023-9%26sort%3dfeatured%3adesc%26page%3d1%26pageSize%3d10
Toze Posted February 17, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted February 17, 2023 @LHT28 your post gave me the idea to check each of the four segments on this cruise. No luck. Thanks @osandomir I will have a look. Still surprised as this cruise is considered a "grand voyage" but will know for next time. Thanks all. PelicanLvr Posted February 17, 2023 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2023 Suggest you look into "Guided Tours Israel", a highly recommended tour company here on CC. After learning about GTI from these boards, we used them about 10 years ago for a 5 day private land tour there and it was perhaps our greatest travel experience ever! I would recommend using them even over any ship-tour.

knitter Posted February 24, 2023 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2023 Years ago we had 2 overnights in Israel and our groups booked a private guide and a hotel, just told someone in the ship office we were doing so. The ship docked in 2 different places, and when we went to reboard, discovered that the port staff said we had to enter from the other end of the port, which would have necessitated a drive through rush hour Haifa, which could have resulted in missing the ship. We pretty much could have walked to the ship from where we were. After some arguing between port guards and our guide, and checking our passports and luggage, we were escorted to the ship by armed guards and vehicle with flashing lights. The guards were not at all happy, and we were the last people aboard. In Egypt, every tour (ship or private) from every ship in port left in a convoy. Cross traffic was stopped til we were out of Cairo by armed police. When coming to port, vans and buses met up again. Our bus was making funny noises- it had developed transmission issues, and couldn't keep up with the convoy. They had a rescue bus on it's way to us but we made it back. The guide on the bus was not happy!
