Overnight in Saint John, NB

Our September cruise on Vision of the Seas has just had an itinerary change.  No more Bar Harbor, but replaced with an overnight in Saint John. I'm looking forward to that.  We enjoyed the Container Village during last September's cruise there.  Perhaps there will be some evening activities there?  Concert? (hint, hint)

What else might we expect in the evening?

An interesting situation - an overnight in Saint John. That might give you a chance to do a longer day tour.  Being from Nova Scotia, I would say an overnight in Halifax would be far better than an overnight in Saint John but from a cost perspective and pier availability, it is probably a $$thing.  The only ships that overnight in Halifax are the smaller lines like Regent or Oceania.

The immediate area around the ship usually shuts down about Six. The only places that will probably be open are the few bars across the street from the ship. Really slim pickings in my opinion.

Agree...I wouldn't be happy with this change. Luckily we'll still be port stopping this October in Bar Harbor onboard Liberty. Next year Bar Harbor will be a no....very sad.

I'm hoping the Saint John resident, who has been very helpful here in the past, will post here with some further information.  She was the one who alerted us to the Container Village.

For us, Saint John is miles more appealing than Bar Harbor.  We've been there, done that.  The last two times we sailed to BH we stayed on the ship for the day.

I'm on two sailings there this year, September 7, and October 5. The September one is a b2b with Bermuda following. See you then.
