Cannot Purchase Liquor for Cabin Anymore

We  just booked the Freedom for a 5-day cruise in April and when we went to order a bottle of liquor for the cabin, we could only order beer or wine, no liquor. When did this start?? 

 

Coincidentally, when we went to order a bottle of liquor for a Holland America cruise in October, 2023 there were only 6 choices (1 rum, 1 vodka, etc.) with a huge price increase. There used to be many liquor choices. Holland is owned by Carnival Corporation. We were able to order a bottle for our Jan. and Feb. 2023 Holland cruises, but those were ordered in late 2022 with the many choices.

I ran into the same problem the other day.. Error message said it was too close to the day of departure, which is ridiculous since our cruise does not leave until Jun 12th and here we are in February. It did still allow the purchase of beer and wine, but no hard alcohol.

Carnival is now only allowing you to buy liquor for the cabin for cruises 7 days and longer I believe.

It has been like this for awhile. You can only prepay for a bottle on longer cruises.

You would fall over from the sticker shock anyway--the bottle of Jack was $135 and after fees was $160!

Our 6 day in May you can purchase liter bottles 

Titos was like 120$ 

Grey Goose was like 150$

expensive 

There’s alway other options

You might survive if you realize how 1 liter of Jack isn't any cheaper at the bar.
