Norwegian Joy Dining

Hi-

We will be cruising on the Joy in August.  What is the difference between The Manhattan Room, Savor and Taste?

Is any of the 3 better equipped to handle a group of about 15? Are their menus relatively the same?  Do these main dining restaurants take reservations?

Are all 3 open for breakfast, lunch and dinner meals?

Thank you

@DZ77  Savor & Taste are basically mirror image of each other, port & starboard side ... smaller & more casual vs. the bigger Manhattan MDR - all 3 use the same menu in its daily rotations and serve the same food - services tend to be a click faster in the 2 smaller MDR.  For a group of 15, MMDR probably better as they do have more large tables, long & round ones that can easily seat 8 to 10 per table (most likely split into 2 tables)  For a large group such as yours, if nearly everyone plan to dine together nightly - call ahead and see if they can link up the reservations and pre-book tables at a set time for each evening, then, adjust it ahead onboard by working with the host/ess on the arrangements.

All 3 are open nighly for dinner, with the 2 smaller ones open for breakfast and also for lunch on sea days ... Manhattan isn't open for lunch or breakfast, unless the ship is close to max lifeboat capacity.

Perfect, Thank you!

Would reservations for MMDR fill up right at the 120 day mark - similar to the specialty restaurants?

Deleted because they do now seem to be allowing reservations (previously I did not see a way at the main DRs)

You will want to coordinate your group reservation as soon as you embark. The Manhattan Room has a bunch of 8-tops and 10-tops near the entrance. I think that if you talk to the restaurant manager, they may be able to push a couple of 8-tops together for you... (see photo below)

Taste/Savor are open on embarkation day and sea days for lunch.

Taste/Savor are open for breakfast. From our experience, breakfast is the hardest meal to coordinate since some are up late enjoying the ship and no one (other than the coordinator) ever shows up on time or even within a hour of being on time. And most will want to grab something quick at the buffet or The Local.

Just a thought... How often will you have the full group? We have found that with all of the different dining options, entertainment, and free specialty dinners that we would normally have a 2 group dinners and folks can come on other nights. We have found that most want to do their own thing (especially if there are kids involved)... and actually resent being "forced" to do a bunch of group dinners. Just a thought...

I think that maximum table size you can request is 8. And even getting 8 at a specialty restaurant, you'll need to be on exactly at midnight on day 120 and may not get it (Haven and Suite guests can reserve at 130 days and Club Balconies and top-tier latitude members can reserve at 125 days).
