Cruise Terminal Copenhagen

We are starting a cruise on the  Nieuw Statendam in Copenhagen in June. We are flying in the night before arriving 10.30 pm approx to the main Copenhagen airport.  Very much appreciate any help given on:

1) What cruise port do HAL use in Copenhagen?

2) Plan was to take taxi on arrival to a hotel fairly adjacent to the ship.  Can anyone recommend a suitable hotel?  Ideally with pubic transport to the city centre so we can go in the morning to get a look around before boarding.

Our first HAL cruise after six Celebrity cruises so looking forward to the change!

Cruises originating in Copenhagen leave from Oceankaj. The cruise terminal is in a large commercial port with no nearby hotels. There will be a shuttle or bus to the cruise terminal from the Orientkaj Metro station. You take the metro from any hotel near a metro station to Orientkaj.

Arriving at 10:30, I would use one of the two hotels directly across the street from the airport.. Clarion or Comfort. Very easy. For other Copenhagen info, check the Northern Europe board, here:

Lots of good info on hotels, transport, etc.

Last July, when we boarded N. Statendam in Copenhagen, she was docked at Oceankaj #2. If you look on the Northern Europe board, you can find the port webpage, and see a schedule and dock assignments.

As far as the port and even the exact location, you can find it here, the official Copenhagen port authority, which shows you the berth and the location;

We think, given the late night arrival, the advice to stay at an airport hotel makes the most sense.  In the morning you can easily get a taxi to take you from the hotel directly to the appropriate cruise terminal.

If you really want to see Copenhagen you should fly-in a day or two early.  If seeing a little bit of Copenhagen, in the morning, is a priority than you should book a centrally located hotel (not anywhere near the cruise terminal).  In the morning you can walk around town for a few hours before grabbing a taxi to the port.  For a short visit to Copenhagen I would suggest that you consider a short canal tour (I think some are only an hour) as it's a good way to see the city in a short period of time.

There was a public bus that went to the port area- but it did require rolling your luggage quite a distance to  get to the ship. And the schedules were not totally convenient since this is a remote location.

Agree with defilpiis post #2 - getting an overnight hotel close to the downtown Metro port shuttle departure point,  allows some touring before the cruise. Very walkable and compact city.

I also recall the Metro airport to downtown connection was fairly simple, but watch which elevators to take to reach ground level once you arrive and you will be juggling your luggage if choosing public transportation..

Plot out your route and connections ahead of time if using public transit, but also just ask - Danes were very helpful. We had a wonderful time choosing two days before departure, for exploring the city and dining very well. ($$$). Nothing is cheap, but the quality is very high.
