Here at GW Fins they change their menu nightly to what they pulled from the sea in the morning...Can't get much fresher than that!

Dinner. Was. Amazing!!!

 

OMG!!!

 

The DW and I spilt two appetizers, the Lobster Dumplings and the Barbeque Shrimp. 

 

 

 

So good!!!

 

For dinner the DW chose the Herb Crusted Flounder while I had the Scalibit, a Halibut base with caramelized Scallops over Shrimp Risotto - It was excellent...But not the star of the show...

The star of tonight's dinner was the dessert! 

 

We were so full from everything else that we chose to share a dessert - The Salty Malty Ice Cream Pie.

 

 

 

This was INSANELY good!!! We started by saying we'd only have a few bites each...But before we knew it, we were fighting to lick the plate!!! 🤣🤣🤣

 

GW Fins hit it out of the park tonight! From the friendly banter with the Hostess, to the drinks at the bar pre-dinner while waiting for our seating, to the helpful attentive waitstaff that rotated while keeping our waters full and empty plates cleared...A wonderful start of vacation tonight. 😀

DH and I are on this same cruise traveling with some friends who are going as well!! 24h+ a couple til we are shipside sipping cocktails! 
 

We dropped off our fluffernuggets as well, which is the only bad thing about going on a cruise—no pups!

I agree that this was so good. The whole meal was amazing. I would definitely recommend GW Fins for any NOLA travelers to enjoy a lovely dinner.

A ten minute walk from our hotel, we decided on Cafe Du Monde...A bit of a tourist trap, but we've never been and wanted to try it. The long line moved fairly quickly, and we got our sustenance on!

Quick comment...Cafe Du Monde is cash only! So many people didn't know this in line and had to seek nearby ATMs. I was surprised the proprietors of this store didn't have an ATM readily available...Losing out on potential surcharge income! A goldmine!!

Took a quick walk down to Frenchman Street...Hmm, the smell of warm piss fills the nostrils swiftly...We had planned to come here tonight and visit some of the Jazz Clubs, but now we are nixing that idea. Hanging out at Washington Square Park watching the locals playing with their kids and pups. Hmm...I smell Wacky Tobacky...🎺🎷🐕🌳

Also a side note...there are 2 lines that form. The one on the outside of the location is for table service, and on the back side of the location is for the to go line. It is not noted anywhere.

Thanks so much for doing this! We’re boarding the Breakaway next week and are looking forward to seeing some up to date information.

 

And although I already have a mile long list of New Orleans restaurants we want to try while we’re there, now I’m going to have to add GW Fins too. That looked amazing!

If you don't have dinner plans yet, Tableau by Jackson square is great!!!   And Café Beignet is wonderful as well and less tourist trap feeling...

We are trying to decide what we're doing tonight. Leaning towards going somewhere with small plates so we can try a bunch of New Orleans flavors. Unsure just where to go yet.
