Hello,

I am new to cruising but know that Celebrity has a relationship with MGM Rewards.  I am a Gold member so I emailed to ask about any offers.  Here is what I was told:

I confirmed that you are a Gold member with MGM and qualify for a Casino 50 offer with perks plus $125 USD of OBC, this offer is applicable to any ship except the Celebrity Beyond for this one the offer would only be a Casino 20. The book by date for this offer is January 31, 2024 and sail by April 30, 2024.

Does anyone know what "Casino 50 offer" means?  Is it 50% off the base price?  Or something else completely?  Thanks!

I'm sorry I can’t help you with your questions.   Who did you send your email to?   I’m MGM Gold but only through status matching.  Did you earn the MGM Gold at the casino?

50% off the base refundable All Included rate, before any Celebrity discounts are applied.

My Gold status was through status match but I've played a good amount at MGM properties.

Hi - Did it take a long time for BlueChip to respond to your email?  We have a cruise booked in April with BlueChip and our OBC hasn't shown up yet. I emailed them so we will see...

Yes, it took a couple weeks.

The 50% offer is hardly much better than what you find on the Celebrity website.

Yup.  To add to this, the reason its not much better than online is because the "casino rates" are entirely different than prices online and often much higher.  Best to pick out a few sailings, price them out on Celebrity's website, call BCC to get their rate and book whatever's cheaper

I love how Celebrity offers 50% off to MGM Players, free cruises to folks who have maybe ever dropped $2 in the casino (according to people who posted here last summer) but to me as an established Blue Chip Player who was last at Sapphire status as of my last 2019 cruise and am also CC Elite Plus I was merely offered a 10% discount when I called in January. Was told because I had not cruised within the past year my status was totally reset and I'd have to start from scratch. I kindly told them I would definitely be doing that...with another cruise line. (BTW, I'm also Platinum status with MGM - earned from actual MGM play last year - which I'm sure their records could pull up since I tier matched from Celebrity to MGM back before Covid)

This ⬆️

To get an idea of what you will pay, go to the very end of simulating an all in booking of your choice and at the end when it shows pricing take the top number before anything is subtracted and 50% that then apply the taxes, the port taxes and such will remain the same.  As some others have said, often this discount is not as great as it sounds as ongoing promotions can be almost as good.  If you aren't one for the All included it is even less likely to be a good offer since it is only applicable to this.

What I was able to do to 'replica' the net 50 for a sailing I booked, using the sample below, the discount is applied to the guest total at the top which is 5069 pp and then add the 267.94 ... the final discounted cost would be 5236.94.  Bit cheaper than the 6103.94 (current promotion cost) in this example but not 50% off what one might expect.  I have one booked for November (not the sample below) and doing this exactly matched my invoice.

You definitely have to do the numbers or call Blue Chip to do them and then ponder the real savings.

I get that, Blue Chip makes no sense. Some offers really depend on which Blue Chip agent you speak with when you call in. Others gamble minimally and get better offers. I’m thinking on moving over to RCL as there Casio loyalty program apparently is more clear cut and better managed.

I'm wondering if someone could please explain the offers they get to book while onboard from Blue Chip Club that I hear about.  I've been on 2 comped cruises this year through BCC and about to go on a third, but have never received this.  I hear you get a postcard around the 2nd or 3rd day.  Anybody receive these?  Is it based on play the first couple days on board? Also interested in learning more about any comps while onboard for play (wifi, specialty dining etc).

Thanks

I did receive a postcard on the third day. It said to go to the future cruise desk to book. We were in a suite and they came up to the lounge ( retreat). But when she heard I needed to book through the casino I was told that I could no longer book on the ship ( they changed the practice two cruises ago! No one knows what they are doing.

Call one of the travel agencies that specializes in casino comped or discounted cruises. Cannot mention them here but can find without too much trouble on Google. They will verify your level of play at land based casinos and book you on any of a number of cruise lines where they have relationships. IME comparatively easy peasy as opposed to dealing with cruise line casino staff such as Blue Chip club team.

It’s solely based on your previous sailings play

URComped has playing requirements; BCC comped sailings do not as they’re solely based your previous sailings play
