We are currently on the Emerald 15 day canal cruise. We used home tests on day 6 on general principles even though we had no symptoms. I tested positive and my wife negative. She is still testing negative one day later. Rules are I must isolate for 5 days my wife can come and go but must take her meals in the room. They say she does not need to test anymore unless she has symptoms. I am free to leave after 5 days with no more tests. I have a slight stuffy nose and that is about it. Though people might want to know the current situation. We both had covid in August and all of our boosters. It is much better service now than when we quarantined on the Royal

Question, not judging, just want to know as I got Covid on Discovery.  Did you mask?  I did not as I had just received my 5th booster and no one else was masking.  In hindsight I wish I had as I had a bad case, positive for 12 days, had Remdesevir iinfusion therapy and was sick for a month.

So just curious if masking would have made a difference.

I cruise the same way I treat things at home. I mask in certain super crowded circumstances such as city buses or if I know I am around a lot of unvaccinated people. Also always mask in public restrooms. Other than that no masks in restaurants or bars at home or on cruises. I have been on 5 cruises post pandemic at tested positive twice. I have be vaxxed and boosted within an inch of my life it seems. Hope to have a good end tO this cruise and then I leave in June for 14 days on the Discovery

Update -  Day 3 of isolation and my fever broke last night feeling so much better and ready to leave isolation and get back to normal on Tuesday. One note when I had covid on the Royal in August it felt like we were dumped into covid jail and forgotten. Here in the Emerald it is night and day. Many calls asking how I am flowers just delivered from Guest Services. Steward still checks in to see how I am doing. Ready to go back to the grill, bars, MDR and casino on Tuesday. All kudos to the ship staff

Glad you are feeling better but how unlucky to get Covid on two cruises.  You definitely did the right thing and likely saved others who may not have gotten through it as easily as you from falling ill.  Hope you can enjoy some of your cruise very soon.

Released at 7:30 this morning after 6 days of isolation. So glad to no longer have to deal with lukewarm room service food. No restrictions regarding masking or testing after release

What was the deciding factor for them to end your isolation? Did you have to wait for a negative test or was it after a certain number of days or just no fever?

Did you contact Princess or insurance company for an FCC for the days in isolation and if so have you heard back yet or are you still waiting?  Just curious how they are handling things now.

You are not tested after day 6 simply released. FCC’s take 4-6 weeks to show up. After my August.bout with Covid it took about that long. If I don’t see them my CVP will see that it is taken care of like she did last when we both caught covid

Same story, next Emerald sailing.  We were both vaxed and boosted.  Wife not feeling well about day 5, went to med center and tested positive, I tested negative.  They quarantined her to our cabin for 5 days (actually offer her a separate cabin if she wanted), called several times a day to check on her, take her meal requests from the dining room, sent flowers, etc.  She felt better after day 3 but had to stay for full 5 days.  Had to make our own beds and clean the room but room steward was always there (outside) with anything we needed.  Refunded her tour tickets immediately. Refunded her crew tips for 5 days immediately. No charges from med center.  After 5 days she was released with no additional testing.  Supposed to be getting 5 days of FCC's back, nothing yet but it is early.

I was on a 7 day cruise on the Sky at the end of January, my first after 5 years.

I am vaccinated and boosted, and had not had covid before.

I  felt a little off on Thursday afternoon day 6 of the cruise.

At that point I thought that I had gotten too much sun in Mexico, however, as the night progressed the i developed a cough and sore throat and felt sicker. My husband obtained a test from a friend the next morning and we both tested posative.

We did alert the medical center. They sent a team member up to check on us an to do their own test, which confirmed the posative result. We were advised to quarantine in the cabin and to call them if necessary, and to order room service for our means. We were able to order from the dining room menu.

Later on, a letter was slipped under the door indicating that each of us would receive a future cruise credit of $44.00 each, which would be applied to our Captain Circle accounts within 30 days.

The next morning was disembarkation day. We were allowed a room service breakfast because we could not go to the buffet...at 8:00 AM Princess security escorted us off the ship, and we were in our car driving home by 8:15.   Princess staff was professional and kind while this was going on.

Covid can be very serious for some people, however we were very lucky and recovered quickly without lasting issues.

We have a big anniversary cruise scheduled at the end of May, and considered cancelling, but have decided to go ahead, but plan to do more to mitigate the risk.

We only booked shore excursions  and hotels that are cancellable, just in case we need to quarantine again.

I reserved table for 2 for dining.  (We love meeting people, but on our last cruise 2 people at our table told us they had sore throats and didn't come to dinner one night, so we think we may have

picked it up there)

We plan to mask in crowded areas as well as  tour busses and elevators and on the airplane.

I

also selected a trip insurance policy that covers medivac, emergency medical care and reimbursement for quarantine hotel just in case we do get it again.

My big takeaway from the experience is that Covid might be less of a threat than previously, but it is not over quite yet.

I would think your natural immunity would be strong in May!  I hope you enjoy your anniversary cruise.

Wife and I had Covid for two weeks prior to our cruise, we both tested negative about 8 days before boarding.

Just to be on the safe side we both took an online laboratory conducted test the night before and both got our Fit To Travel certificates.

At the terminal we were not requested to show any proof of negative tests or any health declaration.

All you need at Southampton to check in is your passport !
