Shabbat Service Question

Recommended Posts

Usually, RCL offers wine and challah on Erev Shabbat.  The ship's chapel has Siddurs and kipot.  But since Covid, they haven't provided wine or challah.  I can only think of one cruise when RCL provided a Rabbi.

No service - no wine

Self led service posted most every week. Generally  not on short weekend cruises. Royal provides wine, challah, yarmulkes, battery lights for candles and a few pages copied from a reform prayer book. It is usually held in a portion of the windjammer.

Royal usually supplies the items as mentioned by Cruisegirl1.  Depending on the ship there can also be full Reform or Conservative Prayer books.

The service itself is self led and can be of any denomination depending on the leader and the makeup of the group.

Our cruise on Voyager in January had challah and Manischevitz, yarmulkes, prayer books, as did our Anthem TA in October and our Jewel TA in late April. Location is often near WJ or inside just before it reopens in the evening.  Should be listed in cruise compass or in app.  If not, checkmwith guest services.

And it's great challah.

Yes!  And there are always several and we take one to dinner.  One year for Purim I asked about getting Hamentaschen. Gave head waiter a piece of paper with that written on it and wondered if the bsker could make some for the next day.  We got a plate with some very good Hamentaschen the next evening.  Ask and you shall receive!

So not quite on topic but - we will be on Oasis when Passover begins.  Do they have a Sedar?

In the past yes. We hope do as we're on the Odyssey in 2024 leaving on the 1st seder!  Didn’t realize it until after we booked so will be looking to hear what happens this year.
