fstuff1 Posted March 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2023 (edited) It's this the Guinness factory tour? https://www.ncl.com/uk/en/shore-excursions/DUN_05/The-Guinness-Story ?destination=Europe+Cruises&port=DUN&sort=price&sortOrder=asc&perPage=12 Pro-tips for the tour? Thx Edited March 30, 2023 by fstuff1
gumshoe958 Posted March 30, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2023 It is. But ignore the ludicrously overpriced ship’s tour, book direct and you’ll pay less than a third of the price. https://www.guinness-storehouse.com/en/home There are regular cheap trains into Dublin from the station at Dun Laoghaire which is very close to the port.

Standard tour (includes a pint (or soft drink) at the top, just €26 JB 🙂

Strictly over 18s. for $95? Edited March 30, 2023 by fstuff1
gumshoe958 Posted March 30, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2023 I’ve never done it but I guess it depends how interested you are in the history of Guinness! It’ll certainly be more exclusive than the standard tour which is extremely popular.

3Shelaghs Posted April 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) Well... for a self tour.... that's an expensive pint of Guiness at the top. More of a sting if its' foggy and raining while up there...................... Standard ticket is 30E=$32.50 US or 44.Cdn... per person! You'll have more fun if you sling yourself to a local, order a few and talk to the usual bar flies. It's fun. The temple bar area is an easy walk. Ah now.. you can’t be sending the poor tourists to temple bar for a €10 pint. Better to stay away from that tourist trap.
Bob++ Posted April 3, 2023 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2023 For a good pint, off the beaten track, try Bowes on Fleet Street, a 2-minute walk from Temple Bar.
achriste26 Posted April 7, 2023 #12 Share Posted April 7, 2023 Which way did you walk to get to Bowes from Temple Bar? I'm seeing 10+ minute walk via Google Maps. Or maybe you had a pint or two before the walk? Which is 100% ok! 🍻 Honestly though, I have not been there yet, but will be there in August. So we are looking for some fun places to go! Well, it depends where in Temple Bar you're starting from, of course! (Perhaps the classic confusion of the pub and the area?)

Sundiego Posted April 9, 2023 #15 Share Posted April 9, 2023 We just spent a week in Dublin so I have some recent first hand experience. 1. Do it yourself, don't use a ship's excursion for Dublin. The transportation system is reliable and super easy. Use Google Maps and clicking on the transportation option you'll see the DART is a straight shot into town. 2. We were somewhat under-whelmed by the Guinness Storehouse. They no longer brew the Guinness there so we found the tour to be over-the-top touristy. Unless you're a huge fan of Guinness, I'd skip it and have your Guinness elsewhere, like at The Brazen Head, Dublin's oldest pub. Or Darkey Kellys if you want to add an order of small bites or lunch. 3. Our favorite "touristy" thing in Dublin was the Irish Whisky museum. You can book it online directly through the museum. It is very central, across from Trinity College (Book of Kells). Hope this helps! ~Denise
