Live 🛳️💦⛱️🏝️ Oasis of the Seas B2B 4/9 - 4/23 2023 🏖️🛳️

Recommended Posts

After breakfast I sat down to read for a little bit and promptly fell asleep again. So now it is early afternoon and I decided to try the MDR brunch since I won’t get a chance next week. What is brunch without a mimosa?

I think being embarrassed that I am alone is greater….so the lesser is being afraid of being with people I don’t click with.

I felt like you when I went solo first time last year but I really enjoyed being alone. I only went to MDR once and sat by myself but ended up having a lovely conversation with a couple who sat next to me. I did Izumi sushi one night and even though I was only one in there solo, I felt ok. One thing to consider is Izumi does carry out so you can always eat in your cabin.  My absolute favorite was Vintages, most evenings there were hardly any people there and their small plates are excellent and reasonably priced. I did Windjammer few times and also Sorrentos, enjoyed people watching at Promenade.  Also, you can always take a book with you to restaurants.  Sorry I high jacked this thread, loving the review!

Let’s talk about my room steward Shawn for a second. I think I previously mentioned that when I met him I told him to fit in my room during the shift he has the most time. Outside of passing pleasantries I’ve only had two other interactions with him.

1. Laundry. I wanted to get laundry done two days ago. I found him the night before and let him know. He gave me the bag and I asked if I could just leave by the door inside my room in the morning for him to pop in and grab. He said I will need to find him and give him the bag. Okay, I can do that. Now the next morning when I found him he asked for the form. Well Shawn you only gave me a bag. So I then had to go back to my room and dump out the bag to list everything on the form. This was a little stressful since I had an early excursion. I managed and all was well and took the bag again to Shawn.

2. Cabin move. This is where i get irritated and am not so quick to give a pass. I received my instructions for tomorrow and it stated that my steward would assist me with my cabin move. So I find Shawn this morning and ask him what time he wants to move my things. I get a “well if you really need my assistance”. To the point where I’m like if you can leave me a cart in the morning I can roll it to my new room. He responded, “I don’t use a cart I just grab everything and carry it over.” He then stated I’ll need to find him again and if I want his help it needs to be before 10 am. He just really left me feeling like I was inconveniencing him.

I have no complaints about how he serviced my room but I am disappointed that the two times I needed something additional he didn’t want to be bothered.

Sorry to hear that. We've never ever had a bad experience with our cabin attendant. Most of them have been incredibly friendly and interested in chatting any time we saw them. At worst, and this is perfectly fine in our book, they were efficient at their job and pleasant but less interested in chatting.

We did our first ever B2B last July and our cabin attendant was happy to help with the cabin switch. I had already learned the procedure from Cruise Critic but he made sure we knew what to pack, leave stuff in the closet, etc. and said he'd take care of it in the morning of turnaround day, no problem (and he did).

Anyway, I know you'll have a great time next week regardless but hopefully this one experience doesn't sour you on B2B's or switching cabins. I understand why people would rather stay put but switching cabins really isn't a big deal (when handled properly at least).

Not a wine drinker and haven't stepped foot in Vintages in my life but that all looks pretty good!

I thought you just got something like a charcuterie board.

I wasn't aware they served food in Vintages.  Not a wine drinker so never went in it

It was a great day. I did some shopping and just lounged around some of the bars and read my book. The weather was really nice. I had hoped to do some ship activities but boy the crowds were fierce. This is the first day that it felt crowded. Elevators were busy and really hot for some reason. People were everywhere. I’m not sure where they have all been hiding out all week.

Just got to the MDR for dinner. This will be my last night in here for dinner. Next week will be all speciality restaurants.

The plan is to pack right after dinner for my room change. I will probably spend an hour in the casino and then head to the pub.

It's a burger, not a $50 steak, so I don't want to oversell it.

The standard one comes with 2 patties (not huge but that's why there are 2), cheese, bacon, sauce, an onion ring, and normal fixins. I enjoy all those toppings. That said, my wife gets her burgers completely plain other than adding ketchup (she's a weirdo). We both thought they were well-cooked with a good flavor, which is basically the baseline for a burger to either be good or bad in my book. The rest is personal preference.

They also come with a nice size portion of garlic parm fires that we both loved. The onion rings (which you can order as an appetizer) were also very good. I make my wife keep hers that comes on the burger so she can give it to me, lol.

Lastly, it's only $9, which I think is a very good value. Around here, our favorite burger chain would charge more like $14 and I prefer Playmakers. If there was one down the street we would eat there frequently.

Hope this helps.

p.s. Check out the campfire cookie as well.

Thanks for all the info on Playmakers. I was thinking about going there tomorrow after we board, but we ended up having our pre cruise dinner at Gilbert’s in FLL, so I think I’ll wait a few days before we do Playmakers. I don’t think we’ll be ready for another burger 🍔 so soon!

Good morning, it is about 7:20 am. We are back in Miami. I was asleep but I think we got in around 3 am. They started letting off self assist at 7 am.

My family has arrived in Miami. They are sitting at the airport bickering. Can’t wait for them to join me. 🤣

Family fun week!

We are not off to a good start. The turnaround process took a lot longer than I expected. Some people just don’t want to get off the ship. Next time I will not show up earlier than 9:15.

I went to deck 5 to make our dinner reservations for the week like I was told at about 10:15. No one was there to do them. I went back to the promenade and was able to make them there. I had to go to Izumi to make the hibachi reservation. If I had known I would have just gone there.

my son has already declared he is never traveling with my mom again. They got an Uber and the driver didn’t speak English. He dropped them off at terminal e and refused to bring them to the correct terminal a. Last update I got was they walked to terminal D and hopped into a taxi.

My new steward is Ian. My room was ready at 10:30 just like he said it would be. Looks like all my stuff made it. I got a little nervous when Shawn asked me 3 times for my new room number. I decided to attach my tags to assist him just in case.

fingers crossed things go smoother from here

So I didn’t mention this to my already struggling family but they stopped me when I was reboarding. They said I wasn’t checked in. They made a note and let me pass. I suspect this has to do with me being b2b but not my son. 🤞 he doesn’t have issues boarding. I think his patience is gone.

Time for a drink. They aren’t even on the ship yet and I’m already stressed.

Hope everything starts to go smoothly and you settle in for another great week!
