I am turning platinum on my next cruise as well.  Anxiously awaiting for my "check in" time to turn from 14 days to 16 days.  I just got off my cruise that bumped my next cruise up to platinum yesterday so hoping that it turns soon.

Strange, I'll be Platinum day 6 of my Nov. 20th cruise and it's showing up with the 16 days. Maybe double check your days that they add up or give them a call if they do.

I know everyone gets excited to turn Platinum so they can check in 2 days earlier, woohoo! But guess what, you're Platinum now, it doesn't matter when you check in, you can check in 1 day before and have a check in time of 3:30pm, it doesn't matter, since you're Platinum you get to go straight to the front regardless. It's a fool's perk, to make you think your getting more, just being Platinum is the perk.

From reopening from covid until a few months ago there was no priority boarding for Platinum or Diamond. Being able to check in two days earlier was the only boarding perk.

I think it is because the cruise I just went on is the the cruise that will push me into "Platinum" on my next cruise and it hasn't yet been applied to my VIFP points.

The website says: "Took a cruise and you don't see it here? Cruises may take up to 14 business days after a sailing to reflect on your account history.

If there is a sailing missing, let us know by clicking this button."

I just got off the ship on Monday so I would assume that it will show up sometime in the next 10 days or so.

That would make sense.

You also get $25 casino credit. Just walk up to the cashier and ask for your Platinum credit and give them your stateroom card. They will ask if you want slot play or table? I always choose slot play, and my card it credited. It used to be that you would get a free entry to a slot tournament, but since the shutdown, they do this now. Have fun!

Remember to order your Chocolate Delight from Room Service, get your bottle of water from the bar, Platinum gift from Pixel, cocktail last Brunch day I think and go to the Platinum/Diamond party.  You can each bring a guest if you wish (like the kids).  I think that's it but I'm sure someone will chime in with what I've forgotten.😄

Thank you Ninjacat. We were hoping that they would allow us to bring our son who is cruising with us to the Plat/diamond party. He won’t turn platinum until his next cruise after this one.

I personally don’t see what all the hype is about getting the earliest check in time! I don’t see the point in checking in, going thru security and then sitting in a very uncomfortable chair for possibly a couple of hours waiting for boarding to start. Just choose a midday time and most times go right onto the ship.

By the time you board the ship I will have parked my carry on in the cabin, gone through muster with just the four of us, eaten lunch, staked out a pier side window seat on the Lido and downed the first 3 or 4 Fun Ship Specials. My vacation starts around 11 AM (Galveston) when I step on the ship. Board whenever you want, we'll do the same.

And that’s what’s great about life, we all have choices to make! I like your choice, but after 43 cruises, I just prefer not to rush these days! If I were still your age, I’d be right there with you!

I'm there as well with my mom's bday cruise.  Checking our bags with porters then getting mom a wheelchair then getting on board.  Gotta do what works for you👍

Just for the record, I’ve never waited anywhere near even an hour to board with an early check in. However, I appreciate that we all have different things that appeal to us.  That way everyone isn’t trying to do the same thing at the same time.

  • 5 weeks later...

I've looked at a lot of threads and I can't find the answer to this question. What happens if you turn Platinum on the second leg of a back 2 back? Do you board the ship Platinum or wait to the second week?

Someone that has had this happen can chime in.  However, I would assume it would be on your 2nd cruise.

Just because it is a back to back, does not mean it all becomes one cruise.  It is still separate cruises and the benefits would be applied on the 2nd cruise when they would normally take effect based on the number of days.  The fact they are B2B is irrelevant I would think.  Be it B2B or a year apart, it is the actual cruise you hit the days sailed requirement.

Or they may just hand you the $25... that's what they did to us the last 2 times.
