What’s the shade situation on the YC pool deck on Seaside?

We will be on Seaside in June and again in August. As my sun worshipping days are long gone, am wondering if there is any shade on the YC pool deck. If not, are cabanas available for rent like on Meraviglia?  Can they be reserved in advance and what about the current price?  We snagged the only cabana on the Meraviglia deck for a whopping $35 bucks back in November. The most recent thread about shade and cabanas dates back to 2017 and the comments aren’t very encouraging. Just wondering how things are in 2023. Any first hand experiences or pics are much appreciated.

If you need a lounger in the shade, just drag (or have an attendant drag) a lounger into the shade. There are tables and chairs in the shade, too.

The cabanas are either for rent or are first come, first serve (it seems to vary by ship). They were for rent the last time that I was on Seaside (cheaper on port days vs. sea days) but Seascape seems to have them for free but they can be chair-hogged.

Shade on Seaside YC pool deck is often hard to find. Someone reported you can move the lounger into a shaded area....whilst true, spaces for such are limited....we know this, as daily on the Caribbean transatlantic it was my task to try and find shade for DW.

Hamrag is on the money. I took do not lay in the sun as I want to keep what skin I still have.

Very difficult but later in the day depending on where the sun is it did shade to the pool in parts.

Just off Seaside's caribbean itinerary. There is not a lot of consistent shade there and I can't see where you could move a lounger to in order to get any. There are small eating areas either side which are shaded but they are upright chairs.

The reliable alternative is the cabanas which booked up fast. It could be worth emailing the concierge in advance and seeing what prices are like and laying early claim. I suspect it will be more than $35 though.

Oh no!  Not what I was hoping for...

Great suggestion.  Worse case, we will forego the pool deck for the casino 😁

On the shaded side of the cabanas you can place your lounger, provided you do not mind anyone hearing your conversation....or you theirs! 😉

Wife and I will be in the YC on Seaside this September…just missed again.  I am looking forward to the overnight at Ocean Cay…does anyone know if the casino opens?

January cruise on Meraviglia YC spoiled us good.

Yes the casino is open at OC.  Slots 24/7 tables I think 12 pm until late

We sailed Seaside in the Caribbean just last month and they were giving away free cabanas.  We took one, they were like a furnace.  The pool attendant suggested throwing towels on top of the roof netting to gain a little shade which was a waste of time with the wind.

The shaded area with tables beneath has a canvas cover poorly designed with large gaps between the numerous canvases, often wet and slippery.

The best option we found was leave the YC and go into the Aurea section, plenty of shade although no lounge cushion.

Unlike Seashore, Seaside only has six "cabanas", and four are set aside for Royal and Owner suites, unless the layout has changed.

I was under the impression that pre-cruise contact was not possible. Do you happen to know their email address?
