Why didn't the OP ask at the PSD?

I meant to do that, or to ask my steward, but simply forgot about it after the first couple of days.

thanks to all who offered ideas and all the good hearted fun suggestions.  The emergency light seems the most plausible.

Thanks everyone!

Tough crowd. I only posted "or a vape detector" just to keep the humor going. 😇

and on 90% of the other lines would have done that 🤪. Princess is just the one line that allows vaping in the cabin. I always figured they were one of the few lines that had some common sense and realized that vaping/e-cigs are farther from smoking than perfume/cologne are.

I am glad they do not allow smoking indoors or in the cabins, stale smoke smell sucks (my humble opinion,,,,,,not trying to offend anyone)

Allowed indoors in casino and in cigar lounge

In the event the power fails, the emergency light will illuminate to help you exit the area.

These may have been more useful in the aft cabins on the Grand instead of the Crown.😉

That was my thinking all along.

Possibly a visual alert to wake deaf people by flashing if they chose to have a wake up alarm.

The Princess FAQ stateroom smoking policy specifically says vaping in cabins is not allowed 😄https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/onboard/onboard-experience/

Yes we know that is what the FAQ's say. However, the contract specifically allows it.

The use of electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, or electronic nicotine delivery systems is allowed within the confines of the Guest's stateroom (balcony not included) and within designated smoking areas only.
