In the Princess guide it states you can only take one bag per person on the land part of the Cruise Tour.  Is there a limit to the size of that bag???

Since this is a specific-to-Princess-policies question Larry, I suggest you repost it on the Princess board (or flag the post to the Moderators and ask them to move this post).  There aren't too many of us who regularly check this Pacific Coastal board - you're much more likely to get a useful answer over there! I do know that you're allowed TWO bags on cruise tours - a day pack you carry yourself on the bus/train and then also one bag that will travel like a checked bag to your hotel/lodge each night.

Given the logistics of cruising to Alaska almost always involves flying, I'm 99% sure that if Princess could not handle a typical 'checked baggage on a plane' <50lb, <62" linear suitcase they'd list the max dimensions very clearly on their cruisetour FAQs, brochure etc. - but hopefully some experienced cruise-tour-takers over on the Princess board will confirm this 100% for you!

Howdy from a fellow Texan,

To help you out I have moved your thread to the Princess Cruises forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed Princess frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

Happy sails,

Host Kat

Correct.

The luggage that Princess transfers can be the usual size you would check on an airline.

The day bag you carry yourself should be the size you would normally put under your seat on a plane flight because that is what you will have to do on the trains that are a part of the tour.

By the way, since a cruise is part of the cruisetour, you may have additional luggage that Princess will store for you to be delivered to your cabin if the tour is first or to meet you at the last hotel/lodge if the tour is after the cruise.

Unlike on the cruise, for the tour part you will be unpacking and packing every one or two nights.

With most of our clothes just needed for the cruise, for the tour part we put both of our clothes, etc. in the same suitcase so we had less to unpack and pack each day. So although we each could have a regular suitcase on the tour part, we had just one for the both of us. Took less space in the rooms on the tour and less effort to find what we needed since the suitcase did not have stuff we needed just for the ship.
