A bit of news that might be welcomed by casino users. The Den on deck 6 of Scarlet Lady has been converted into a poker room...

This is a WPT-sponsered poker room with 10-plus tables and is a very welcome addition to the cruise experience.  I played Holdem (both tournaments and cash) almost every day on the past 2 cruises.  I'm taking my next 4-day cruise specifically to enjoy this WPT experience again.

I'll be honest, it didn't look like much of a room when we were on Scarlet a few weeks ago. Kind of like they threw poker tables into an unused space with really bright lighting. Not nearly as nice in appearance as the main casino.

The format and setup of Scarlett's WPT poker room is the same as almost every poker room at every casino in the world.  If you are a poker player (specifically texas holdem) it's like being in heaven.  And the WPT is to poker like the NFL is to football. If you prefer games of chance (BJ, Rolette, slots) the casino is way nicer.

They do offer freer Texas Holdem lessons (I think every day) if anyone fancies a free lesson or wants to see what holdem is all about.

Give 'em time....I'm sure they'll eventually dress it up.

It's better than most poker rooms on land AND the dealers and staff are friendlier than 95% of the poker rooms I play in.  It's a fun room to play which is more important than glitz.

Can you share the buy in amounts and structure of the tournaments?  Do they have poker table games vs tournaments?  What seems to be the skill level of the players?

Is there poker on the other ships like Valiant Lady?

Thanks.

All good questions.

Buy-ins for tournaments include:

$80 for the quick (I don't recommend this tournament for experienced players)

$240 for the main event tournament (I did play in this one on 2 different cruises).

$125 bounty tournament

$150 sit n go (which I haven't played in).

Cash games are mostly 1-2 with a $100-300 buy-in.  These games run in conjunction with the tournaments and usually get a full ring of 9 players late at night.

Skill level is all over the place, as you can imagine.  I've played against the once-a-year and skilled players.  With that said, it's always been recreational players playing.  Brad Owens or Rampage weren't on any of my cruises.

Hope that helps.
