Celebrity Cruises and URComped

Recommended Posts

Just received a casino comp from Carnival today and remembered a comment a while back in a casino thread from a poster who was sailing Celebrity for the first time via a website called URComped (not a TA site). I had never heard of this until I read the thread and so when I got the offer today I decided to check it out. Within a matter of a few hours I had an ocean view stateroom casino offer from Carnival turned into a free veranda stateroom offer on Equinox for early July. All I have to pay is taxes and port fees. I also have the option to upgrade to a higher level should I choose.  I haven’t accepted or declined the offer at this point but I am astounded by how easy it was to score a virtually free cruise. All this to say, I was waiting around for a Blue chip offer from Celebrity when the reality is just about any comp offer will do!

Now what such offers are doing to the pricing of regular cruise fares… remains to be seen. Just wanted to share. Happy cruising.

You cannot accept an offer on URcomped if you have sailed or booked a cruise within twelve months on a specific cruise line and in this case it would be Celebrity. There will be a process where you will have to answer those questions in order to accept the offer. It will reject you if you answer that you have cruised in on X within the last year.

Good to know. That disclaimer is/was not visible nor has the question been asked at this point, anyway. I will keep an eye out for this. If so, I would not qualify as my last Celebrity cruise was early March.

🙂 You would not know until you tried to accept the offer. We have other offers from MSC and Virgin but we’re not willing to fly for a cruise at this time. RCI sends us offers weekly. Much better than what X sends us weekly.

Gotcha. The world of comps is completely new to me but I totally agree with you about flying. After our fiasco with American back in March and nearly missing the boat as a result, I’m done with flying for a while as well. We leave out of Ft. Lauderdale in November and though we would normally fly in from ATL, we are breaking up the 12 hour drive over 2 days instead.

Unfortunately we caught Covid on our Symphony OTS cruise last October and we had the flight from hell from Miami to Palm Springs. Since then I will only drive to Los Angeles. 🙂 We have turned down numerous offers from X on cruise from Alaska. I remember your adventures of flying from ATL to LAS. Many of us were following your every move.

So I wanted to follow up with this because  @cruisingator2 raised a point that I wasn't aware of regarding booking a successful comped room using URComped on a Celebrity ship after having sailed with them within the year.  I mentioned this to the comp specialist via email after she found me a veranda stateroom on Equinox for a July 4th holiday cruise.  I explained that I didn't think I would be able to take advantage due to the rules I learned about here.  I wanted to post her reply.  I'm skeptical this is accurate but then I logged into Celebrity and sure enough, the booking is already linked to my account and ready for payment.  So do you think this is legit or when I go to pay, will everything come to a grinding halt...I know there's one way to find out...

I am using another third party for bookings on Celebrity for comped cruises.  My concern was like yours - I thought I would not be able to book through them as I had sailed on Celebrity a month before, but have booked three cruises for 2023 through them with no problems.

Thank you for the confirmation. I was able to pay for the booking directly on the Celebrity website. I’m going to give it a week and call Celebrity to confirm the booking. And add a drinks package.

I thought the rule was that you could not have cruised on a Celebrity Blue Chip comp in the last year, not that you couldn't have sailed Celebrity at all. If your previous cruise was not a casino comp, you should be fine.

Interesting. When I looked at a Celebrity casino offer from URComped, I got this message:

I also got that message but I used a TA for my booking instead of booking directly. Apparently that was the difference. It was also a regular booking, not a blue chip.
