It's been a few years for us and I remember they allowed us to just take it back to our cabin. We love trying local wines from each port and it would be nice to have some while on board but wouldn't be surprised if this isn't allowed now. It depends on the port. For example, in both Barcelona and Civitavecchia, the port provides the x-ray/security, and they are only looking for weapons. They could care less whether you are carrying wine or not. In Barcelona the duty free is after security, so you can buy just about anything to bring on board. In other ports where the ship handles the security, they will confiscate your wine and give it back to you on the last evening.
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 28, 2023 #27 Share Posted May 28, 2023 (edited) It can even depend on what time of day you come in from your shore excursions. Sometimes the area is manned by personnel who are assigned to take your wine, put your name on it, and set it aside but then later in the day there’s nobody at that table and you can walk right in with it. If there are shore excursions which visit wineries, often they let you bring wines back from that excursion without taking them but then sometime later in the day, as people arrive from other excursions or from just walking around town, they take their wine. The point is, what happens on one cruise and one port doesn’t necessarily happen on all Cruises in all Ports Edited May 28, 2023 by cruisestitch

cangelmd Posted June 1, 2023 #29 Share Posted June 1, 2023 We are on a back to back out of Southampton, planning to go ashore for some sightseeing on turnaround day. Anyone know if we can bring wine onboard then, since it is technically embarkation day?

padgman1 Posted June 1, 2023 #31 Share Posted June 1, 2023 If embarking from Florida ports, there is usually a Total Wine store in the area that one can order wine and (usually) have delivered to your hotel ( if arriving day before) - best selection of all categories of wine at good prices. If you have a Classic or Premium drink package, it is free. If you open the bottle in your room ( and keep it there, bringing glasses of wine to your dining destination), it is free. No kidding! 🙄 Not everyone gets the CBP or the PBP. @bluecruisin ask a simple question and I provided an equally simple answer.
