  1. We were also on that cruise. It was our first westward T/A. Yes we had great weather in Bermuda warm and sunny, as a matter of fact I remember the weather being mild most of the cruise except for a little rain in Gibraltar. We also had a port side balcony which was recommended to us as well. And calm seas too!
  2. Thanks for the updates! Was wondering how is the weather so far? I'm so confused as to what to pack for the T/A
  3. First cruise ever 1983 MS Scandinavia which also was a car ferry. NYC to Freeport we hit 25- 30 ft waves coming around Cape Hatteras. We had top deck forward cabins where we occasionally had zero gravity walking down the hallway. Barf bags everywhere. Passengers moved from cabins to sleep in hallways and lounges on lower decks and no one was allowed outside. We were young and didn't let it stop us. The dance floor was quite funny as everyone slid from one side to the other all night. When we arrived in Freeport there was a lot of damage to the cars it was carrying and quite a few passengers decided to fly home. Then 2006 X Constellation NYC to Dover (I think) We started out along side the QM 2 and hit 30-35 ft waves mid Atlantic. The race was on! We were rockin and rollin as we plowed through that storm we could see the waves fly up past the windows in the lower lounges as we sipped our martinis and the captain kept us updated on our progress. We beat the QM2 by half a day I think.
  4. Baggy178 - Wish I had thought of that in 2018 at the San Juan Hilton both before and after our Summit cruise. We were staying in a suite and paid quite a bit for those stays. The music in every part of the pool area was so loud there was no way to relax. It was non-stop pounding noise all day. I asked management to turn it down a bit but they replied that there was a children's birthday party and it was their music so no. The day we disembarked in San Juan and headed back to the (ugh) same hotel I was starting to feel ill. Unfortunately there was some kind of business event in a tent by the pool that day and the music was exactly the same and they refused to turn it down. I will never stay at that Hilton again. It was a nightmare.
  5. Celebrity's conduct policy: "Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard; with the exception of embarkation day when each guest (of legal drinking age) is permitted to bring onboard one (1) 750 ml bottle of wine (which are subject to a corkage fee) per guest. A corkage fee does not apply to guests with the Classic Beverage Package or Premium Beverage Package. Security may inspect containers (including water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, canteens, etc.) at any time and will dispose of alcohol concealed in such containers. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased from onboard shops or in ports of call (which must be presented to security upon re-boarding), will be secured by ship's personnel. Alcohol secured by ship's personnel will be returned to guests just prior to the conclusion of their cruise vacation. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them." But I thought I saw somewhere here on several posts that it was changed to 2 bottles per person, unless that was an error and it's actually still 2 bottles per cabin. I'd still go by what's posted above on X's website.
  6. We've always preferred Celebrity, especially early on in the 90's and early 2000's but we've also been game for checking out other cruise lines. We've sailed Carnival twice, mostly because the Norfolk port is 10 minutes from our daughter's home and we could all drive there. Both times we were very impressed with the MDR food. The Italian specialty restaurant not so much. That being said the ambiance is not as relaxed as X or even RC. Lots of kids, which was fine when we had our granddaughter with us. But both times we saw armed security walking about at night in the lounges and nightclubs. Why do they need to do that? I never saw any rowdiness or drunkenness on either ship. But just can't relax with that in the back of my mind. If this next cruise in October on the Reflection is disappointing we'll just move on to other cruise lines. It doesn't seem like X cares about repeat cruisers or brand loyalty any more.
  7. Our last cruise this past April on the Equinox was an "Exciting Deal" I just thought it meant it was a great deal. 😆 I found out those exciting deals are pretty restrictive and the only excitement I got out of it was the frustration whenever I called about a price drop. They get ya coming and going. We've just got to learn to expect it, book accordingly and roll with it when they trot out the fine print.
  8. The lobster looks fine, but what concerns me is the tiny amount of broccoli and melon ball scoop of rice. That's insulting looking. I'd put that photo on farce book along with a post that if you wanted to be insulted twice you'd have to pay 16.99 for the privilege. We've been cruising with Celebrity since it was still Chandris only because the food was so good. They had the best head chef that used only quality ingredients. They could make potatoes to die for and their bread sticks were addicting, not to mention their soups, mains and desserts were creative and so delicious. I sure hope we don't regret this 14 day T/A coming up. If we do, it will be the last on X.
  9. Oh that's too bad. We'll be on the Reflection T/A in October and we've only been in a suite twice on X, the last time they had a piano player on the Eclipse which was nice but it was still kind of boring. Years ago Michael's had the best entertainer on the high seas Perry Grant. It was standing room only every night he was there. What a shame they don't have more light entertainment around the ship in the evening.
  10. You can click on "offer received" and it will take you to your bids and you should see "pending" if they haven't already been rejected.
  11. Vickykay I checked mine by going back to the original email from X and clicking the bid button again and it brings you to the bid page which should show your bids and status.
  12. Essiesmom, Haven't been on CC for a while and just saw your reply, thank so much
  13. Back in April we were given a check in time of 1:30 on the Equinox so we were concerned about missing the concierge lunch. Called Captains Club, no one would change it so we just checked in early and we’re able to get to the lunch on time. Afterwards we both agreed that was the worst meal we’ve ever had on X. The service was slow. The meat was unidentifiable, the potatoes tasted like instant, even the desert was awful. Are they trying to discourage us from going to these lunches? Not only that but they jammed us all in those 2 tops that are inches away from each other. Just an awful experience. I don’t like buffets either, especially on embarkation day but we went up to the buffet afterwards since we barely touched our concierge lunch. Maybe you’re not missing much. If they canceled and rescheduled ours we’d probably just have lunch either in a nice shoreside restaurant or one of the specialties on board rather than the concierge lunch and avoid disappointment.
  14. Thanks for your replies. I figured it would be hit or miss. We shall see!
  15. Has anyone any recent experience bringing wine on board that was purchased shoreside on a European sailing? It's been a few years for us and I remember they allowed us to just take it back to our cabin. We love trying local wines from each port and it would be nice to have some while on board but wouldn't be surprised if this isn't allowed now.
  16. Just want to clarify the 31.00 savings was if we had purchased the flash sale of 20.99 per day premium wifi which would have totaled 293.86
  17. Just got off the phone with CC. So the answer is yes. She gave me 30% off of the pre-cruise basic wifi rate of 16.99 per day (11.92) and with the flash sale upgrade voucher for 6.99 per day we saved approximately $31.00. on a 14 night cruise.
  18. Yes, the wifi was a little slow but just fine to check email and send texts. You can use it a few minutes at a time and it will let you know how much time you have left when you sign off. So if you're both Elite you get 90 minutes each.
  19. I'm sure this has been asked before but due to the flash sale there's a mountain of posts to slog through. We've never purchased a pre-cruise wifi package before due to our Elite free 90 mins. The basic wifi package doesn't indicate it's part of the flash sale. Pre-cruise 16.99 vs on board 19.99 per day. Do we still get our Elite 30% off of the pre-cruise price and how can I get it to appied? Thanks in advance.
  20. Thanks, I finally found that after posting here.
  21. I came here to ask if there are still covid testing and/or masking requirements for U.S. citizens entering and/or cruising in Europe. We'll be on a T/A in October leaving from Barcelona and haven't been on a European cruise since 2019. Should I check each country's website? Usually a travel agent would let us know what's needed but we booked directly with the cruise line. Any helpful information on this would be greatly appreciated.
