ShopperfiendTO Posted May 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2023 Just wondering if Oceania serves Alaska king crab legs on its Alaska itineraries and if they do, is it in GDR or as "specials" in the specialty restaurants only? On our Norway cruise with Azamara a few years back, they had wonderful local Norwegian lobsters (much smaller than Nova Scotia lobsters but still a unique and delicious treat) as a special-of-the-day at their Toscana equivalent. latitude 22 Posted May 7, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2023 We were on the Regatta in 2018 and they did, I had them on the Buffet during a Seafood Themed Buffet, If you are visiting Icy Strait Point on your itinerary there are 2 casual Crab Restaurants there. You can find the info online, but honestly you can’t miss them!
halfapair Posted May 7, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2023 It might depend on the availability : ”In October 2022, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game canceled all snow crab, red king crab, and blue king crab seasons for 2022-2023, after trawl surveys showed a continuing crash in abundance. The winter red king crab season in Alaska's Bering Sea was also canceled in 2021-2022.”
Rare pinotlover Posted May 7, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2023 Most generally, the answer is NO. When we want fresh local foods, we eat ashore. A rare exception occasionally happens in the Terrace, but one rarely knows when and it can’t be pre planned. We canceled a PG reservation one night , while in the FP, to eat a FP buffet in the Terrace. We could eat Merican food anytime on Oceania, but that one night was the only dinner offering Polynesian local fare while in the FP.

Delicious! And, of course, any chance to get Dungeness is worth the effort. That said, “King” crab legs are big and that’s about all that is interesting (or tasty) about them.
