Hobbiton tours being cancelled from Tauranga.

Yep, I called them and booked ours as well. It seems that the Hobbiton has cancelled all cruise ship tours this year.

Did Hobbiton actually say that? 

 

I'd heard it was the main tour operator thete that decided not to do Hobbiton tours. 

 

Oh well, Rotorua will gain from that.

Zealandia tours to Hobbiton is booked out for our date (16th Jan, on Grand Princess). Can anyone recommend another tour company? Could we rent a car from the port and drive ourselves?

You can drive yourself as I did in 2020 but, to do the tour you have to book beforehand and you become part of a tour group and bussed to Hobbiton from the Hobbiton information centre (there is car parking available). You cannot go to the (movie) set by private car. I booked directly with Hobbiton.
