goodvino808 Posted May 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2023 Curious if the current Ovation sail is going as scheduled….noticed the seas from Scotland to Iceland look incredibly rough 😱

offtoalaska Posted May 24, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2023 What sight are you monitoring for sea conditions? We're booked on the Ovation departing Copenhagen on Jun 25; our crossing to Iceland from Gothenburg Sweden departs 6 pm Jun 26 with two sea days arriving Djupivogur, Iceland at 8 am on the 29th. A little anxious about the sea days although we did weather Drake Passage in Dec/Jan 2019. Hopefully weather might be calmer in late June.

First saw it being used in Antarctica on seabourn and has served me well since. I particularly like the swell chart, which is the third one down after clicking on an area. When I looked in relation to the original post, at that current time it was showing a swell height of 8-10m. It can be higher. Always useful for the ferry crossing to Shetland in winter! The forecast is every so many hours then less frequent as time progresses.

If you click on the specific ship you can see wave height etc. I recognize weather changes hourly but noticed the worst waves in the northern hemisphere was from Scotland to Iceland.
