Sales Opportunity

Recommended Posts

Today, the NCL Memorial Day sale ends.

This presents a wonderful opportunity to see if NCL sales are really sales.

Log onto ncl and price out a cabin/cruise of your choice.

Post the results.

Tomorrow, after the sale ends, price out the same cruise/cabin.

Post the results.

I priced an Alaskan cruise on Encore 11 Aug 24 Club w/ larger Balcony, $6790 total including taxes, fees, etc.

You already know the answer.  The only way it really changes is if they take away the Free/$99 3rd and 4th guest that some cruises have.

Getting ready to book an 11 day Mediterranean Cruise for August on the Epic in a Haven Spa.  With a 20% off coupon with $500 OBC thrown in, and my TA’s discount, it’s going to be right at $4,000 including FAS.

Going to book it today as it’s the last “cheap” Haven Cabin left.  So, won’t be able to do a “like for like” with the same cabin, but will look at some other categories tomorrow to see how their fares look.

Including various discounts confuses the issue since not everyone gets the same discounts.  I purposefully excluded my TA discount (8%) and my military discount (10%)

Good points.

I only see what’s available to me.  I know some of the Alaska discounts were targeted to certain groups (albeit, without rhyme or reason).  This Europe one, I’m not sure.

I do the same for my Mil discount.  Not everyone qualifies, so I don’t count it.

Cabin prices fluctuate, regardless of the current sale.  So prices change because of that, not because there is a new sale. Today's price is never guaranteed for tomorrow.  And the "sale" price is based on whatever NCL decides is the FMV for a specific cruise in a specific location, less the sale discount & perks, on the day you book.

Of course  you are right but pricing the cruises at today's sale price and tomorrows price with the sale should remove the issue of prices changing over a considerable period of  time.

Or just check price history on CruisePlum.😎

Thanks for sharing. This was a new site for me and had lots of valuable tools.

Great to see the all in pricing based on port fees and gratuity.

Yep.  And it also cuts through a lot of nonsense about how much NCL is "jacking up" their fares as well as claims that "the price last month was half (or twice) what it is now."

UK the 50% sale went to 35% and quite a few of those i was looking at went down.
Current sale should end to day but it has been extended every time with something.

What will probably drop of is the holiday weekend(26May-31May) sale 50% off FAS.

One thing I did notice but not sure when it happened is the UK air credit  is now staggered on grade and ZERO for insides on the crises I am looking at

My personal %off coupons expired at end of April and had no new ones yet.

NCL is basically full of it with their alleged sales.  I get probable 3 slick NCL brochures a week and at least 3 emails a week telling me about the hot sale that is going to expire in only a few days.   It is the same wording and sales that go on week after week and year after year.  True, prices do go up and down. But that is inventory driven prices, not a real "sales" event.   However, they can call it what they wish.

But I read every one of those "slick" brochures when they hit my mailbox...and wish I was on a cruise! None of them have caused me to book, but they do make me want to cruise. Eventually (and not because of the brochures, maybe), I'll book another cruise!

Again, not sure how NCL is targeting their “coupon discounts” for Latitude members, but finally just used my EU one and booked yesterday.  The coupon expired June 22.  But, it was a good one (as was the Alaskan one I used last month).

Bottom line, discount was great and probably the least expensive fare I’ve seen recently (say, in the last 18 months) for a Mediterranean cruise (11 days).  I looked at Princess, MSC, Royal, Celebrity and Oceania.  Again, I look at total out of pocket.  Fares, FAS, taxes/fees, etc.

Be interesting to see how fares are adjusted (if at all) after June 22.

That is how all the cruise lines work.  Attaching Royal, Carnival and Celebrity home pages with their sale countdown.  I check all 4 lines pretty regularly and the terms of the sales are extended or changed but the pricing doesn't.  image.png.8003c47b53ee0e836aea6fcec2b0a3b5.pngimage.thumb.png.f9e91de7c4721d2b1da0d8f61a35e944.pngimage.png.de45b84b3b1e58454694a6ef2b700a4c.png

The only cruise line that is honest about their pricing is Disney.  They don't run sales.  They just tell you to plan to pay double the other cruise lines and deal with it.

MSC UK the prices are more realistic they fiddle in the 10%-15% range and with the price of the  premium drinks add on.

Sometimes it appears they just give TA more money to give bigger discounts.

Prices also change independent of the sale.

Funny….my former TA said exactly the same thing.  I tried to look at Disney cruises for a while.  Fares were always about 2X the other main line cruise companies’ offerings.  I don’t know what you get for that premium, other than the Disney Characters being all over the ship.  But, someone has to pay for the lack of a casino, I suppose.

My son was never a Disney guy.  So, the allure of taking a Disney cruise was never there for us.

Where's the lie? 😂 Every couple years I'll price out a Disney cruise for s**** and giggles and every time I end up shaking my head.

I thought your European offer disappeared.  Did it reappear?  Glad you got a good deal.

As all cruise lines are. Just do a mock booking and see the "real" price. It's not rocket science.
