Rare BetsyS. Posted July 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2023 Years ago on the Veendam, one of our room stewards was counting the days until we got to Amsterdam. He was leaving the ship there to fly to the Phillipines to see his family for a vacation. We made sure we gave him his tip the day before we got to Amsterdam. He was a great guy and we saw him again on another cruise after that. As we know, crew can have assignments changed because of promotion, vacation, end of contract, etc.
CruiserBruce Posted July 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2023 As we do a number of B2Bs, we always ask of the main crew we interact with...cabin stewards, dining room staff, cabana staff ( if we have rented one) are onboard the entire time we will be onboard.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted July 16, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2023 Good callout - we do that, too. Of course, they already know we're on B2B, but unless we ask, we don't know when they're getting off. And it certainly could be before us.
Rare POA1 Posted July 17, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2023 We do the same. It's not unusual for crew to shift assignments between voyages. You may have different room steward, dining team, cabana guys, etc.
Rare WriterOnDeck Posted July 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2023 Not just B2B. Crew can come and go at any port. Try staying on 6 months and keeping up with all the changes in cabin steward, dining room stewards and supervisors, beverage servers around the ship (who get switched between venues every so often, too).
