Princess Captain Circle & P&O History

Having just booked our second Princess cruise I noted that my Wife had shot straight to Platinum level on their Captains Circle and I had not 🙁

Now this may well be old news to many of you but I had read it that P&O cruises booked after the end of 2017 no longer count towards the Princess loyalty scheme and it was therefore closed to old P&O history, what I had failed to realise was that Princess are still happy to add pre 2017 history to their scheme, spoke with them on Friday and today I also popped up to Platinum.

So anyone who like me didn't realise, its worth a couple of minutes on live chat with them!

Yes, it's brilliant. I did my second Princess cruise in 2019 but because of my P&O history was Elite Level with Princess...

And you can use that elite level to get a status match in the MSC Voyagers club if you ever wanted to try their ships for a change (though perhaps a bit on the big side for your preference unless you did YC ship within the ship).

I got Diamond using Elite Plus with Celebrity, don’t know if they give that out anymore but worth trying.

Thanks. I'm very unlikely to try MSC but useful information for others.

You might actually enjoy Yacht Club as it has all the facilities of a large ship but a small ship feel within the enclave. Means that like a small ship you get to know the other passengers and staff, staff get to know your preferences etc.

You also by pass all the big ship issues such as queues as there is a YC escort to get you off and on. You even have reserved seating in the theatre so can just stroll in (and a lift override but I personally don’t tend to use that).

It’s pricy but a really nice experience. We only found them last year and have been on 3 times since. Just a pity they don’t do sunshine over the winter, it’s all Rotterdam and Hamburg etc.

If I remember correctly Princess gave a cut off date for joining their Captain’s circle for P&O cruisers if you were a member before this any P&O cruises were taken into account. I don’t know if it’s still the case but once Elite always Elite, unlike P&O where if you do not keep your days up over a three year period you revert to Caribbean.

Interesting DW was upgraded before me also, Princess quickly remedied this by doing a reset, to upgrade me not downgrading her.

I tried getting a status match on MSC as I'm Elite with Princess, but as it was my first cruise with them they said not this time.

They only status match on your first MSC cruise.

I used our Princess Elite loyalty in April and got MSC Diamond their top level as well as an extra 5% discount off our cruise.

A free meal in their specialty steak restaurant was much appreciated plus cabin until 9am on departure morning.

We status matched several years ago and have kept the status we were given which was originally black which is now diamond which has been applied to all our MSC cruises.
