This little snippet of an article was posted yesterday on the subject.

It's is saying maybe in 10 years they'll have commercial flights into Galveston again. Mostly due to cruise tourism.

There was an article in the Galveston news this spring that was more hopeful. Putting the possibility by 2026.

It sure would ease a lot of cruisers headaches.

Scholes Field had commercial flights until the mid 70's.

There has been discussion of re-opening for commercial traffic.  However there are many improvements that must occur including lengthening of runways.

2026 is  too optimistic; 10 years is more realistic due to the associated costs.

If Galveston were to build a commercial airport terminal, I can envision American Eagle service between its DFW hub and Galveston... maybe United Express service between its Denver hub and Galveston as well. I'd love to see it.

Though, Galveston could never support the number of non-stop destinations that Houston does. So, people looking for non-stop flights would still fly to Houston.

See my comments to you on the thread where you suggested mass transportation from Houston to Galveston. How much are you planning to kick in? I do believe you do believe that money grows on trees.
