Taxi to from Caves plus question on steps

Are their taxis readily available at caves for return to ship?  What is approximate cost?  How difficult are the 80+ steps, are they places to stop and rest when climbing back up?

I don't recall taxis being readily available, but assuming you take one there, you should be able to arrange for a pickup.

 

I don't remember the steps being that difficult. But no, there are no rest stops.

There are 88 steps. No places to rest. You will be with a tour group that goes down at the same time so you can’t stop anyway. They are not difficult unless you have mobility issues. Take a ferry to Hamilton or St. George’s then a taxi to the caves. There are always taxis coming and going as the caves are a popular attraction. Return the same way. To a ferry terminal then ferry back to the Dockyard.

How much was the Taxi from ferry terminal to the caves?

From the Hamilton ferry terminal to the caves about $30 overall for 1-4 passengers, From St. Georges ferry dock about $20.

There's NO regular taxi rank at the CRYSTAL CAVES attraction but taxis come 'n go during the day dropping off visitors. As noted, you can always take any #1(most scenic), #3, #10 or #11 public bus from the Caves to downtown Hamilton (approx. 35-40 mins.)....then transfer to a #7 (MOST SCENIC) or #8--Hamilton-Dockyard (NOT '..Barnes Corners..') for scenic ride back to Dockyard (approx. 60 mins.....OR...strol down though Hamilton (approx. 3 blocks) to the main Ferry terminal for a scenic boat ride back to Dockyard (approx. 20 mins.

 

Taxi fare between downtown Hamilton and Crystal Cave wil be approx. $35...20 mins.)

Taxi fare between the Dockyard cruise port and Crystal Caves will be approx. $63...55 mins.) 

Taxi fare between the Dockyard cruise port and downtown Hamilton will be approx. $50
