timandnancy Posted July 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2023 Stopping in La Spezia in late September on a Sunday and was planning on taking the train to Cinque Terre. Has anyone ever done this on a Sunday? Will shops and businesses be open? Thanks! Tim
Wineaux007 Posted July 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2023 Instead of waiting in line at the train station to purchase a Cinque Terre Pass, we downloaded the app and purchased our tickets on line. Saved a lot of time. Headed straight to the train. Most venues should be open in September.

Rare Jim_Iain Posted July 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2023 I've visited on a Sunday and found most of the restaurants, shops and venues were open. If I recall some shops didn't open until noon. We also did it on our own via train and loved our outing. 1

RD64 Posted July 29, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2023 A Sunday in August - particularly around the 15th of the month - I would venture that nothing will be open. Italy is on holidays - tourists be damned - especially during Ferragosto.

Rare mom says Posted July 30, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 30, 2023 CT derives most of its income from tourists. It doesn't shut down all day on Sundays during the tourist season. September, even late September, is still high season there. At worst, some places will be closed in the morning.
