bspill Posted August 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Leaving on the Venture next week for an Iceland/Greenland trip. Seabourn recommends all kind of ultra cold weather gear for.Zodiac tours. Temps in Greenland are in the 40 degree F range. How cold does it get on the Zodiacs? My camera will only operate to 32 degrees F. Curious to know if it will be worthwhile bringing it along. pavementends Posted August 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2023 Wind is probably more of an issue than temperature. You will want waterproof clothing including pants (ski pants probably fine). Warm underwear pants will help as will a hat. Remember you will be sitting on a wet zodiac and maybe get some salt spray besides. You are unlikely to have problems with camera operation. You are looking at the guaranteed specification not the temperature where the camera actually stops working. The camera is unlikely to cool down to ambient anyway. Take extra batteries, especially if you camera is a mirrorless.
aliaschief Posted August 8, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2023 Read a Hal ship report yesterday that was visiting Greenland and kids were swimming. Brr! I’m sure that’s not the norm.
2SailingNomads Posted August 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2023 We were in Iceland just over a week ago. Temps were fine, one port we went to I was wishing I wore shorts. Only time we were cold was a zodiac trip in Norway when it was raining hard and windy. YMMV.
