Which specialty restaurant? There are like 10 of them. One or two may require long pants. Theme night? In specialty restaurants? No such thing. The buffet will have special nights...Asian, prime rib, etc. By the way, this is not only limited to the Encore...but fleet-wide. baileycat122 Posted August 25, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2023 I know that dress is generally "resort casual" with some theme nights. I've read that dressier (optional) nights are "Norwegian Night Out" and "Dress Up or Not". Are these the same thing or are these two different nights? Going on the Joy for a 9-day New England/Canada cruise this fall. Thanks!

Usually the night of the 1st Sea Day and when the Captain was available for pictures. Since COVID, not sure if the Captains take pictures anymore and might be Captain by Captain basis. Enjoy your cruise

Los Lobos and Cagney's steakhouse. The theme night was a different question-the MSC ship we were on had a "white night" so everyone wore white and glowed. Rare graphicguy Posted August 25, 2023 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2023 Overall, the only restaurant that requires long pants or a pantsuit or skirt for the ladies is Ocean Blue or LeBistro. Ocean Blue may have changed their requirements as I have not hear any recent dress requirements for that restaurant. There is a night for "Dress up or Not", which is exactly that. IF you want to get dressed up, go ahead, If not, that's OK, too. Mostly, those who do dress in suits or dresses do so to get their pictures taken on board. But, there really isn't any reason you can't dress up (or not) any day/night of the cruise. It's really up to you. You can if you want. Or not, if you want. No one will think twice about your choices.

There is a Glow Party night where you can white and neon, but you don't see that much at dinner time

Other than what is stated in the dailies, people can dress however they want on any night in any NCL restaurant on any NCL ship. There's no reason to overthink it. Even when stated in the dailies, Smart Casual isn't difficult to meet. A tie is never required. A jacket is never required. Sneakers can be worn anytime. It's easy.
Rare KeithJenner Posted August 25, 2023 #11 Share Posted August 25, 2023 (edited) NCL have worked out that adults are able to decide for themselves how to dress, rather than being told what to wear and when (with some very basic requirements in some restaurants). If you want to dress up then you can, if you don’t want to then you don’t have to. It’s your decision. Enjoy it, and decide for yourself what to wear. 🙂 Edited August 25, 2023 by KeithJenner
Russiamomm Posted August 25, 2023 #12 Share Posted August 25, 2023 I believe the only “dress code” is in LebBistro and the Manhattan Room (or whatever they call the MDR on different ships. Men must wear long pants. It can be jeans, just no shorts.
