Wondering difficultly level of access to ports from ship to dock, with wheelchair or scooter

Hello @scott5003 and welcome to the Cruise Critic message boards!

Thank you for your new topic on the Cruise Blogs & Websites forum! However, it is off-topic there since that forum is for our members to post links to their personal travelogue-type of cruise-related blogs or websites.

To help you out, your new thread has been moved to the Disabled Cruise Travel forum where it will be on topic. It is where cruisers with physical limitations share their advice & experiences. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

The Cruise Critic website and message boards are a great resource for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you found us! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community categories list for the various message board forums. Read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there.

sincerely hope this information will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are so glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!

Happy sails,

Host Kat

Hi and welcome to CC (Cruise Critics).

General boarding a ship with a wheelchair/scooter is fairly easy unless you are using a tender. On most ships staff are willing to either push the wheelchair or drive the scooter up/down the gangway.

It would help if you could post the ports you are thinking about, as there may be other things you may need to consider. For example some European ports have cobbles or the port is quite a distance from the city, you are visiting.

Let us know what ports and what cruise line you are going to be on or are considering.   With this information, we can give you better information.

Also, if you are using a scooter you may need an accessible stateroom...

Welcome to cruise critic..

Tendered ports can be quite challenging with a wheelchair.  Ports that dock directly are easy access off. (ports vary on how accessible they are once on land) Let us know ship and ports and we can give you a better idea.

Agree with previous poster if you can get an accesible stateroom it will make your life much easier.
