Has anyone found a sugar shack experience that can be booked independently of the cruise ship? This would be for early September.

September is a bit 'off-season' for sugar bushes, but it certainly can be done.  I don't think you're likely to find a nice, neat package/excursion to do this... transportation to/from the sugar shack will be a bit of a challenge.  Who know though, maybe this place is willing to make some arrangements if there are enough people interested 8n visiting; they probably have a lot of experience doing that for local schools and retirement homes.
