Sorry I went MIA there for a while...

We tied up in Vancouver just after 9am and then had to wait for clearance from the authorities. Platinum/Elite lounge was in Princess Live and the host told us she would escort us in groups of 10 to the gangway once we got clearance. We were in the first group of 10 and left the lounge at 9:40am. The line to the gangway was HUGE but we bypassed it by going through the "secret" door near the shops. Easy walk off, handed in customs form, and was in my house by 10am. Caught up on work and debated going into the office this afternoon, but the weather is nasty...so will work the day from home. Completed the Princess survey but didn't get confirmation (or charge) for the FCC that I bought onboard through the app. No idea if it went through - with that app anything is possible.

Thanks for following along - hopefully those that are staying on the ship will keep this going!

this voyage was also briefly advertised as a RT Seattle voyage - were there people that were staying on for the return trip?

Yes! It was a 2 day SEA-YVR, a 3 day SEA-SEA, and a long cruise SEA-AUS. Today, there will be a whole host of folks boarding in Vancouver for the 9 day YVR-HNL but it wasn't allowed to do Seattle to Honolulu due to the PVSA.

I am staying on for disembarkation tomorrow morning in Seattle. I guess I found the cruise during the “sweet spot” when the round trip was briefly for sale.

I would say that at least 90% of the passengers are new. We were technically classed as “in transit” passengers with a B2B protocol even though we get off tomorrow AM. What is even more interesting is that in my Captain’s Circle account my trip seems to have counted for two sailings, and with the solo bonus, that means I got four “cruises” out of this one trip. Score!

I’m not sure how active I’ll be, but I guess I can keep it going for the few hours that we three day people have left on board!

So this was my first time in Vancouver, and even any part of Canada, so I really wanted to take it as much as possible. However, with the not-so-great weather, I was only out for about six hours. Ended up doing a hop on/hop off bus, and walked around Granville Island, Gastown, and Stanley Park for a while. The walk back to Canada Place from Stanley Park is beautiful and I bet it is even better when the sky is blue and there’s no rain.

I think I bought too many souvenirs - having a hard time closing my suitcase…

I have a late flight tomorrow so I’ll be checking my luggage downtown and killing time at Pike Place Market tomorrow afternoon. The weather in Seattle tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same of what we had today in Vancouver, so no point in paying for the space needle if visibility is poor. I’ll be back for an Alaska cruise in the future anyways, so I can wait a little longer 😉

Here’s today’s Patter. We have a very late departure tonight at 8:45 PM, so there’s not much going on. The scheduled guest vocalist missed his flight so there was an entertainment change that is not listed here. Please excuse my markings.

That transpacific repositioning cruise looks amazing. Maybe one day…

@talkorpi You covered a lot of ground on this rainy day! I'm impressed. You saw quite a few sights in six hours. Glad to see that you enjoyed my city, even if it was a dark, wet day.

We sometimes tell people that you get used to this weather; that it's like this for many days of the year...but when the sun shines and it's a blue sky day - it's all worth it.  I've lived here for my whole life and I  wouldn't choose to live anywhere else.

Cruising to other destinations? That's another story.

Glad you made the most of the day. I stayed home and finished packing. Yes, Seattle will most likely have the same weather tomorrow. I am thinking I will follow T's lead, @ceilidh1 and see how many new drinks i can try out in 7 days. Seven days cruising up and down the Wet Coast in the fall. What was I thinking?

I finally see the logic of people heading south, for cruising in sunnier climes. Oh well, at least I don't have to board a plane to fly anywhere. I should be on the ship within two hours of locking my front door and arriving back home in about the same time on the day we disembark. C'est la vie! This summer has been a good one to board a few ships in Vancouver.

Bon Voyage to us all!

So the new entertainment tonight was a “comedy mentalist.” His bit is not very comical so I left (sorry dude, maybe if I sat closer to the stage and could see everything going on I would’ve stayed.)

Was going to go to tonight’s game show in Princess Live, but I don’t want to miss the nighttime sailaway going under the bridge so I think I’ll be out on deck for that instead.

For some reason I still didn’t get any disembarkation information. I saw a couple of other people on the three-day waiting at the bar earlier and they also never got any papers. I guess we are going to wing it in the morning!

Had a beautiful sailaway from Vancouver. We are out and heading south to Seattle. Bad weather forecast but not as bad as the last two days.

Photos aren’t attaching so I will post tomorrow when I get cell service again in port.

Goodnight everyone!

Glad you made it safely to Seattle, but sorry you have to leave now. This really was too short! I had the BEST time and now just want to jump right back on another ship. If only work/money didn't prevent that.

I got my final folio through this morning - all correct. What still hasn't happened is the FCD purchase that I made through the app. When I submitted it, I got the screen that said it would be processed within 48 hours and an email confirmation would be sent. I didn't think to take a screenshot, but I'm suspecting that the app crapped out and the order didn't go through as so far I've got nothing. Oh well.

My next booked cruises are Virgin in December, NCL in March, and I do have a Princess booked in March but likely going to cancel - it's a 15 day Hawaii and for that length of cruise the packages no longer make sense when travelling with kids. I would do it without a package, but not going to pay for all the extras that used to be included (Alfredos, Ocean Now, room service all very heavily utililised by us)..For me, personally, short cruises with the package are still a great deal/fit on Princess but anything over 7 days is out for the forseeable future. Sorry, Princess.

Room steward told me it was only on Sea Days but mentioned on Sunday that some guests had already won that day. Hmmm...I'm going to need to speak with a manager LOL

Honestly getting the 2 nights in Crown Grill was worth the premiere package on this 2 nighter.

Agreed - the whole reason I upgraded on this short one was for specialty dining...it was a no-brainer!

2 specialty dinners on a 2 day cruise ... $78 for $40 upgrade

2 specialty dinners on a 5 day cruise ... $78 for $100 upgrade

2 specialty dinners on a 15 day cruise ... $78 for $300 upgrade

Yup - packages make zero sense for my situation on longer voyages. For two days, I got more than the package price out of it!
