Thanks for another entertaining and informative review. Looking forward to your thoughts on Explora 1.

Already posting on Explora forum. Do not like what we are reading. Here are my thoughts at the present time.

"We are presently on  the MSC Seascape in the Yacht Club. This is our last night on the way back to Miami. I can always find something plain on the menu, like grilled salmon a plain salad with Italian dressing on the side. DW is a very plain eater and the chef in the YC accommodates both of us very well. She eats the same meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A plain salad with lots of croutons and no salad dressing. For dinner a grilled chicken breast dry no oil and 12 bread sticks soft vegetables and a special dessert that the chef prepares every evening for her of meringues with a chocolate drizzle. We have the same table for two with the same waiters for every meal. So exotic dishes are not on our must have list. We were sold that EJ would just be an all YC type cruise ship and it appears not to be. We are booked and paid in full for Dec/Jan. Appears to us that there is no accommodations being made for guests like in the Yacht Clubs of MSC. Even if we could cancel, all the top suites on our favorite MSC ships are sold out in the Yacht Club. As someone noted we are very happy in our comfort zone in the Yacht Clubs. and thought EJ was just an extension of this MSC concept. I do not relish the idea of having to wear ear plugs for the entire trip."

The only thing wrong on the Seascape are the guests that are damaging the ship. Here are just 3 of the damaged elevator key pads, there are more.

This is crazy. What is wrong with people. I read so much about drama with elevators on Seascape, but Seashore has these same elevators and I don't see people reporting as much drama about that shop or those elevators. Man, makes me want to go back on thr Seashore versus the Aeascspe.  What's so special about Seascape that people are having so many more issues with the elevators on this ship? My goodness. Does MSC need to play a video in the cabins about how to use the elevators properly.

We were thinking the same thing. We are afraid once the Seashore arrives in the US market the same deterioration will occur to it. Another fantastic plus going for the Seashore is the Hotel Staff is MSC finest. Wish the Seashore was porting in Miami.

That is another passing thought that we were 'sold ' about Explora being all Yacht Club, one will not need to be escorted through Gen Pop. Remember being accosted by a 4 year old calling me "Porky" a couple of cruises ago. Won't have the destruction found on Seascape and have not heard about problems with elevators.

I bid you all adieu.

Thoroughly enjoyed following along and will try and patiently wait for your next cruise adventure.

One quick question -- Did you upgrade your WiFi package or did you post the video's after getting back in port?

Trying to decide whether I'll try a live cruise report when we sail next year and if so, whether I need to upgrade my WiFi package.

Both. We both upgrade to browse and stream for 2 devices each. It came to $70 a piece, but since I waited til the evening of embarkation day to do the upgrading our statement reflected a $63 each for the rest of the week. It did not help in uploading videos. Needed streaming to what Groucho reruns. The flurry I posted today was at home. We only live 45 minutes from the port.

Please try a live report, I forget things as they happen. I ask DW constantly, what did he/she mumble just now? (And my doctor says my hearing is fine. English is not their native tongue).

Thank you for your kind posts. Hope to be on board again for our Thanksgiving this November.

I may be misremembering, but is not the hooliganism primarily occurring on Miami cruises, as opposed to those out of PC?

Exactly my thoughts as well. Though I cannot be sure as we have ONLY cruised out of Miami. Or I am just more observant than other posters.

Exactly

Best, then, to keep Seashore well away from the place.

Fortunately, our 2024 cruise out of Miami will be on Magnifica, so we can test the Aurea experience, sans Yacht Club. (There are fewer 'nice things' to break.)

Thank you.  I will also wait until we board and upgrade our Wifi to the Browse and Stream.  My DW watches a lot of YouTube and I try to do live post with pictures.  Not as prolific or as articulate a write as you but I try.

I am hoping that @JamieLogical  will be doing one as well since she is on the same sailing and we'll be able to compare and contrast differences in our experiences.

"My take on this is that Aurea is The Yacht Club on these ships."

I hope this is the case, at least to a lesser extent. There are some non-YC MSC cruises in other parts of the world we would like to try in the coming years.

We sailed the Seashore out of Miami in 2021 in the YC and experienced none of these issues.  Has the post-COVID traveling public out of Miami lost its collective mind between the interlopers and elevator vandals?

This clip is 26 seconds of the surf and sand with a swath of pebbles and seaweed on the only worst beach on Ocean Cay (YC beach).

I guess not too many YCers actually go into the surf anyway.

Do you know the best time of year to even go into the surf?

March to August is sea lice/ jellyfish season.

May to October is seaweed season

February March and August September is red tide season.

So it appears the best time to swim in the Ocean is November December and January.

Our first week when we were there on 9/11, the water was perfect. (We missed it the second week due to weather) We did have our water shoes on and once we navigated past the rocks it was so nice. Very calm and clear. We were surprised at how much time we spent in the water that day.

Shame they can't do something about the rocks. I lived in south Florida as a child from 1970-1980 and spent a lot of time at the beach and don't ever remember rocks. Looks more like a Great Lakes beach.

That is the problem I find in writing a 'good story'. "Nothing ruins a good story more than the arrival of an eyewitness". Mark Twain

It is like my telling about all the many instances of interlopers in the Yacht Club when we are there. Others chime in they never saw any. DW sat at the pool on the OnePool deck talking with a young couple that in conversation let it be known they were staying in a cabin on deck 9. DW said nothing to them and came over to tell me she discovered a couple of interlopers. One does not know they are fraternizing with interlopers, unless they come right out and tell you.

Then there was a cruise where the couple in the pergola next to ours, pretending to be regular novices of the Yacht Club and MSC. I go on and on about how great the YC is compared to Haven, Coastal Kitchen, Retreat etc and he tells me about his family business car wash. After the cruise I see his picture plastered all over the news. He is really chairman MSC cruises north America.
