Millennium main dining table for 2

We are sailing on the Millennium in October and this will be our first M class ship. Typically, we steer away from main dining due to the closeness of the tables and lack of privacy as a result. We have anytime dining and will likely eat in the main dining room a few nights and specialty dining for all others. 
 

Can anyone recommend a table number/location for a private table for two? We love people but are not interested in dining 3-5 inches from someone after we just spent the whole day touring. We will wait as long as needed and eat as late as necessary in order to get a nice private table.

I can't speak to the MDR on Millennium as we were in Luminae last time we were onboard, but in general do be aware that small tables for 2 away from other similar tables can often be adjacent to the waiter's stations, so you trade a lack of fellow diners for a lot of foot traffic from the waiting staff.

 

So when you ask try to avoid both, but that may not always be possible.

On the Millennium now.

 

Tables 172 and 173 are two-top tables that are on their own at the back at the aft windows. 174 is a four-top table they will seat two at nearby.  None of these three tables are directly next to other tables. High demand for all three...

Haha, someone who feels the very same as us!

Like you, we love people, but want to spend our dining time privately. 

 

Unfortunately there are very few tables for 2 & the one's there are are so close you would be as well sharing!

We were first on Millennium after the refit but were in Aqua so can't comment on MDR, however, we were on Constellation in September last year (similar set up I think)

We managed to bag a table at foot of the stairs which was pretty private, relatively speaking!

We aporoach the host/hostess on the day we arrive & ask if we can look round the tables in the MDR to earmark potential areas.

Sometimes they are very obliging, sometimes not.

 

Last cruise we managed to keep the same table for the whole cruise, we had booked on the app for the same time each night.

Sometimes it wasn't ready, but we got a buzzer, went for a drink & they called us.

 

We are on Solstice in a few weeks and hope we can bag a table for 2.

Without sounding ungrateful or unsociable, the squashed in tables for 2 is  the only part of cruising that is a little disappointing for us 😞

They have been known to re-number the tables from cruise to cruise.

Yes, they have. However, these table numbers have been consistent since May when we were last on the Millennium. We are also on the September 30 sailing and the table numbers are not changing. FWIW.

I m another one that wishes the tables were not just two inches or four apart but more.  We too enjoy privacy and nothing like being close to an obnoxious or rude diner.   another reason is medical.  for those that have serious food allergies, the closeness of someone having a food with the particular allergen can cause serious issues.

Last year my assigned table was alone against a wall on the 5th and I hated it. Solo cruising I didn’t want to feel like I was put in a corner especially since waiting between courses can be quite long in the MDR. The high back chairs also help with privacy, feels like a cone of silence.
